Plantronics .Audio 480 USB "Virtual Phone Booth" Headset

This is also not the USB version. The Title is wrong when it states USB. When Ordering this item: I received the version without USB ".Audio 480 Headset".
I did not receive the ".Audio 480 USB Virtual Phone Booth Headset"
There are two versions offered by Plantronics, and this is the 3rd Amazon Prime listing that either shows the USB adapter or has it in the Title - but when ordering you receive NO USB adapter. This the the 2nd one I ordered, 2 different Amazon Prime listings, indicating USB - but no USB shipping.

First of all let's define what this product is for: using it as a communications device rather than a listening device. I travel a lot and try to keep stuff in my laptop case to a minimum. This little headset is very practical to carry around, has good noise isolation, and so far I haven't had a complain regarding background noise, thus the noise cancelling in the mic must really work. I don't give it 5 stars due to the short cable, which I had to overcome with a USB cable extender.

Although these earbuds looks like they should be high quality they didn't fit my ears well even with a variety of "fits" available and the mic boom is propped in place with a plastic tab that isn't particularly comfortable. Combine that with a listening sound quality that is definately harder to get accustomed too I would recommend staying with a cheaper version or even with something like the earbuds that come with an iPhone. I probably won't use them very much which makes them a waste of money - on the high side for this type of product.

I've got just three thoughts about this headset:

1) Its compact
2) The audio quality is poor
3) It comes with 4 different style of earbud and all fall out of your ear

I was looking for a headset with mic that would work for the traveling I do. The boom mic does make the left earpiece come out if you don't get the right fit, but generally it works well. The sound quality is a lot better than a wireless one ear headset I tried last year. I like that I can choose to only use one ear if I want to listen to something else in the room or use both when I am trying to focus on what I am listening to.

I highly recommend this head set if you use a soft phone on your pc. I use the memory foam ear buds and it locks out the sound of other co-workers around me. The 6 foot cord is not very long, but I plug it into my keyboard using the USB port so it works great for me. I only wish I could hear myself in them like a regular phone, you may talk a little louder than usual until you get used to it. For this reason I give it 4 out of 5 stars. I work in IT support, if you are on the phone as much as I am, you will love this headset.

This product has a great form factor and a quality case. The noise cancellation is great and everything is clear from the plantronics end. The bad thing about it is that it has static noise that is horrible for the user on the other end. I call a regular home phone, business voip phone, cell phone, and all display this static noise.

Btw, I tried both usb and analog....and the analog got so much worse.

Try something else until they get rid of this static noise.

Great product, but after a month or so the microphone came off. I called Platronics to replace and they sent me a brand new one, but a month later the same thing happened. I gave up.

Great sound, both ear buds and mic. A little too fragile however. Does not fit well in the pouch offered with the product! Overall recommended.
