From the Manufacturer
Enjoy crisp, clear audio during your Skype calls with the Plantronics Audio 628 USB Stereo Headset. This Skype-certified headset features a noise-canceling microphone that ensures you are always heard loud and clear. Foam ear pads, inline controls, and a lightweight over-ear design help promote a comfortable, convenient VoIP Internet-calling experience.
Noise-Canceling Microphone for Clear Conversations
The Plantronics Audio 628 USB Stereo Headset uses a combination of audio-enhancing technologies to promote clear, noise-free conversations. The noise-canceling microphone filters out static without muffling your voice, crisply conveying each word you say. You will be able to communicate more effectively, without the frustration of cutouts and feedback.
In addition, the microphone actively works to tune out background noises, so you will be able to make Skype calls in noisy environments. It uses Digital Signal Processing technology to cancel out echoes and boost voice signals, improving clarity.
Stereo Headphones Deliver Rich Audio Performance
With its 32-millimeter drivers and expert sound engineering, the headset is capable of delivering crisp, high-definition audio. The headphones boast a 48 kHz sampling rate, which ensures faithful reproduction of your computer's audio. Meanwhile, the built-in EQ adjusts low and high frequencies to create a clear, balanced tone that is ideal for conversing.
The headphones are also well suited for all your PC audio activities. Your music will sound rich and full, thanks to the headset's 24-bit audio and inclusive dynamic range. Your gaming experience will improve as well--you will be able to hear in-game audio cues more clearly and communicate with your teammates more effectively.
Inline Panel for Easy, Accessible Control
The headset also features an inline control panel, which gives you quick control over Skype calls. A call button allows you to answer and end calls with a push*, while a microphone button lets you mute yourself just as easily. You can also adjust volume level with two conveniently placed buttons, which increase or decrease your call's volume incrementally.
Comfortable Over-Ear Design
With its lightweight frame and snug over-ear design, the 628 Stereo Headset is comfortable to wear. The headphones are covered in soft foam ear pads to ensure comfort during extended talking sessions. And with its 6.5-foot cord, the headset gives you the freedom to move around while you talk.
The Plantronics Audio 628 USB Stereo Headset is compatible with any Windows or Mac** computer that has an available USB port. It is backed by a one-year limited warranty.

I use these for listening to music and watching TV shows on my computer. My kids use the heck out of them talking to their cousins via Skype.
The sound quality is good, better than I thought it would be actually. While they are not as good as some of the high end 'monitor' type headphones, these are likely better than what you are using now. The phone functions of the headset works easily and installation is almost thoughtless.
I have a big head (7 3/4 hat size), and these are comfortable on me. Not sure Id want to wear them all day, but I had no problem watching 2 hour movie with them on.
Overall, I can easily recomend these to anyone in the market for this type of product.
The sound quality is pretty acceptable. These aren't headphones for every day listening so audiophiles need not apply but putting that notion aside both incoming and outgoing sound is clear (assuming the mic sensitivity and output are dialed in properly of course). The in line controls on this model work well and the raised +/- on the volume defines the function easily when blindly operating the device. I personally have not used this headset for Skype, as I don't have anybody to Skype with on a whim, but I would hazard a guess the phone button picks up and hangs up just fine. Functionally this is a respectable headset.
On to comfort, and perhaps to a lesser extent build quality, I'm going to have to knock a star. These aren't horridly uncomfortable, or prone to inflicting excessive inward pressure like the .Audio 655 Headset was for me, but they don't feel very secure or well-positioned while on my head. Overall they feel under-weighted with little spring to them outside general curve on the unit. They sort of remind me of the feel that the packaged headphones used to have with a cheap discman.Read more ›
