3.0 out of 5 stars A few issues with this phone
I'm a bit disappointed with the Plantronics CT11 phone. For those who are used to cell phones, this is probably not an issue, but the thing is so tiny! I have to put on my bifocals to do anything with this phone, and even then it's difficult to read the numbers on the screen. I've never had a cell phone, and this is one reason why.

I ordered this expecting I would not like it much, but wanted a small phone that would fit in my pocket and wanted to try the MX150 clip on headset. To my surprise, the CT11 has become the most used phone in the house. Battery life is fine and the sound quality is far beyond my expectation. Listening to a caller, the earpiece is almost on par with an over the head headset plus it has a volume control. The microphone is crystal clear to everyone I talk to and no one can tell the difference when I switch back and forth between a regular hard line phone and the CT11.

Yes, the buttons are very small and take a little getting used to if you have large fingers. If you require reading glasses as I do and don't have them on, they are really difficult. Keep in mind, you have a phone that will fit in your shirt pocket, is fairly lightweight and has one button speed dialing to compensate. I use a calling card for long distance and the CT11 has a button for one touch dialing of a phone number that you use often. Hold it down and the CT11 will dial the 800#, pause for the connection, dial the pin# etc. Then you can hit another button and "chain dial" the phone number you are calling. You can also program the number buttons to speed dial from your phone book with one touch of a button and NO menus to flip thru as my other cordless phones have.

For me the best part of this phone is the MX150 ear piece. It's small, light weight and after a dozen or so practice runs, I was able to have it in my ear and ready to talk as easily as I can pick up a regular handset. The ergonomics of it may not work for everyone. In my left ear I sometimes forget I have it on, it's so comfortable and easy to place. My right ear must be shaped differently as I have to adjust it some to get it to stay in. I was all set to order the some extra MX150's for use on my other cordless phones (Panasonic), but it does not sound as loud. The MX150 must be matched for the Plantronics CT11 and it does the job very well.

I have used this phone for over a month, have 5 cordless phones and everyone in the house goes for CT11 when the phone rings. When my other phones finally die, they will all be replaced with CT11's.

5.0 out of 5 stars I will never again buy a non-plantronics cordless phone, September 7, 2006

I bought this phone to replace a similar Uniden model that I'd had to replace twice in as many years. Plantronics has a good reputation so I figured I'd give this one a try. I find it utterly convenient and high-quality. The sound quality is better than my older and larger cordless in the house -- the one that doesn't even have a headset! It's tiny, so I can slip it into a pocket or clip it onto my belt. I walk around with it all the time because I forget it's on. Yesterday, I put it down on the kitchen counter, and accidentally knocked it into water, totally immersing it. I opened it up and let it dry out as best as I could. Today I called Plantronics's tech support and said that, while the display worked, the phone rings, and the voicemail light still operates, the actual buttons don't. I was hoping they could tell me whether I needed to let it dry out more or if they recommended simply buying a new one. Instead, and to my surprise and delight, as it was still under warrantee, they politely and pleasantly informed me are sending me a new one, no questions asked! They didn't even care that it was my fault! That's what I call good service. Even if I hadn't been a fan of the product already, this would have made me a convert.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of equipment, July 5, 2006

They are utterly reliable, batteries last a long time between charges and the range is, I think, more than what is given in the spec sheet.

4.0 out of 5 stars Watch out for wireless interference!, October 6, 2005
This review is from: Plantronics CT11 2.4 GHz DSS Cordless Phone with MX150 Headset (Office Product)
This is an excellent little phone with great sound quality and a very comfortable headset. I am happy with all of the built in capabilities and it works exactly as advertised.

The only problem I had with this item out of the box was that it completely knoccked my wireless network offline because they were operating on the same frequency. That couldn't be fixed via the phone, so I logged into my wireless access point and changed the channel there. After testing with a few different channels, I found that channel 2 (on my Buffalo Airstation) seems to be impervious to the interference from this phone, so I am happy. I would check to make sure you can do this with your wireless access point before making the purchase - but otherwise, a great phone and a great deal!

OK, I bought this phone when my battery kept dying on my old phone. I decided I wanted a hands-free device which allows me to walk around the house doing chores while talking. I was slightly skeptical after looking at the head-set picture, but I thought for the price it was worth trying.

To my surprise, I actually like the head-set. It has a non-pressure clip that holds it in place and I have been told that it sounds good on the other end. I have a deep voice and so if the microphone is too close to my body, it is sometimes hard to understand the words. This microphone is away from the body and the sounds comes in crystal clear at the other end. And, YOU CNNOT BEAT THE PRICE FOR A WIRELESS HANDSET. Plantronics have been the industry leader and the set I use at work cost about $300 (well, it has more range, better head-set, and is blue-tooth). This is a real bargain for the price.

So, if you want a good head-set phone for a low price, buy this. And if it turns out you don't like the head-set, you can buy one you like and it is still agood deal.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love this little phone!, September 7, 2005

I am completely bowled over by this little phone! I spend a LOT of time on the phone, and was looking for an option that would give me free use of both hands, so that I can pick up, do dishes, sort papers, etc... while on the phone. This DOES IT!

In exchange for that freedom, I expected to lose some sound clarity or strength. Instead, this phone has the best reception of any in my home. It beats out three other cordless phones by giving me clear reception in one room where other phones have always had very loud interference on the line.

The headset is comfortable and stays up.

The only glitch is that the clip for your waistband is not as robust as I would like. If I bend over, it's not unusual for the phone to pop off my waist and go flying. That's never disconnected the call, but I worry about the effect of repeated falls. Mostly, now, I carry the unit in my pocket, since it's so small it fits nicely.

My best purchase in a long time!

I really enjoy being able to walk around and talk on the phone hands free. The little ear piece isn't the best design, but over all I really like this phone and the quality of the reception that I get. I highly recommend this phone for anybody looking for a hands free unit.

In order to redial the last number dialed, you have to push 3 buttons. I'm used to phones where you only have to press `redial' after calling & getting a busy signal. This one, you have to hang up, press redial, then press talk again.

It only allows for 1 memory phone number that can be dialed by pressing one button. Most other phones have a `Memory Dial' option, where you press the Memory Button, enter a number from 1-10, and press talk. This phone does store numbers, but for each call, you have to press the `Phonebook' button, then another button to search for your stored number, find and select your number on the minuscule screen, then press talk to dial. For those of you with good eyes, this may not be a problem. I just wish I didn't have to put on my darn glasses every time I want to make a call!

The belt clip is also a problem, the way I use it. I don't clip it to my waistband, I hang it around my neck. (I'm not so sure it would work that well on a waistband, either) With all my other phones, I've slipped some kind of strap under the clip and they hang nicely. The way this belt clip is made, it stops just above midway on the phone. The phone ends up flipping upside down, the strap slides out, and the phone falls. The center of gravity is all wrong on this one. I was almost going to buy the Neck Strap/Lanyard they make for this phone, but I thank GJC in Houston for his review, letting me know you can`t put the phone in the charger with it attached. I will sew a little pouch to hold the phone and wear it around my neck instead.

I need to mention that the Plantronics customer service online is excellent. Actually, the phone I purchased through Amazon.com turned out to be defective right out of the box. Plantronics was extremely helpful, and sent me a replacement phone, asking me to return the defective one after I received the new one, so I didn`t have to go without a phone.

I would still recommend this phone, because other than the issues above, the in-the-ear headset works well, is comfortable, and has good sound. If the earpiece starts to hurt after a long call, all I have to do is switch to the other ear, which is not as easy with any other type of headset phone.

I spend several hours a day on the phone with clients, and I wish I would have bought this years ago. It's light, the range is good, the batteries last longer than I do, and the sound quality is fantastic.

While the price seems a bit high, the quality of the reception is excellent and if you've had trouble with other phones, worth the price. The ear piece is more comfortable than I feared it might be, and the sound coming in one ear works out fine. Sometimes it is a nuisance to get the earpiece onto my ear, as the phone is ringing, but once I have it on, it is no bother. I am pleased by the choice I made.
