Designed for mobile and cordless phones, the Plantronics M140 headset doesn't provide the crisp audio quality of the company's M175 model, but its compact design should please anyone craving hands-free telephone conversations.

The headset has a nice, slim design, and fits snugly even without attaching the included ear clip. However, unlike the M175, the M140 doesn't feature a noise-canceling microphone, making it more suitable for cordless rather than cell phones. Recipients of our calls often complained that they could just barely hear us. There was also noticeable static on our end of the line, which was exacerbated by the lack of an adjustable volume control.

The Plantronics M140 headset is a decent choice for those who need their hands free while speaking on a cordless phone. Though it doesn't offer the level of quality that noise-canceling headsets offer, it should suffice for the most basic uses. --John Frederick Moore
