The closer the mic is to your mouth the more real you sound.,

This review is from: Plantronics Headset M145 for Mobile & Cordless Phones (Wireless Phone Accessory)
The earpiece is pretty comfortable and the sound is good. The microphone is what will have you and the other party thanking Plantronics. Ever talk to somebody who is using a cheap or small cellular phone? Annoying isn't it. The M145 warms things up, no more speaker phone sound quality.I always use the headset in the car. It's great on the home phone too. When they start putting headphone jacks on all the home phones everybody will have a headset. They are so comfortable and convenient, now I have two.(car/home) The only thing missing is an on cord/headset answer button.(might not be possible for a universal product) The volume control is nice but I rarely use it, would trade it in a heartbeat for an anwer button. Last thing, those headsets that have a mic that clips to your lapel are ok, maybe a little more discrete. Your voice won't sound as warm because the mic is farther away.

Very comfortable, Great sound.,

I wasn't sure I would like a headset that fits in your ear but once I got it adjusted properly, I found the M145 to be very comfortable. The sound quality is excellent and the volume control is very handy. I don't know what that other reviewer was talking about because mine came with a lapel clip. To test the quality I called my voice mail from my car with my radio on and the sun roof wide open, traveling 60mph down the highway and the call came through loud and clear with no wind noise and the radio was barely audible. There is also an ajustment on the jack that plugs into the phone to adjust the microphone volume if people have trouble hearing you. My only complaint is that the mute button turns on too easily. Overall I was pleasently surprised with the M145 and am happy with my purchase.

The best hands-free ear piece I have ever used,

I believe I can easily explain why a few other reviewers gave this item a poor rating... you must also have an excellent cordless phone to get the benefits of this device.I've been using a Jabra ear/mike with an AT&T 9311 cordless phone and while I could hear great and the Jabra ear piece was comfy, no one could hear me. I just bought a new Sony SPP-N1025 cordless phone and got this Plantronics ear piece after it was recommended to me. I called my parents using the new phone and this Plantronics headset and they said they couldn't tell I was on the cordless. Previously, they were always telling me they could barely hear me and I had to yell when I spoke to them on the old phone and the Jabra headset. I was talking to my mom this evening on the new phone and this headset when the the batteries started going out on my phone since it had only charged for about 10 minutes. I switched phones and put the Plantronics headset into the AT&T phone and continued the conversation. My mother said that while the sound quality was better than it had been in the past (same crappy phone, but Jabra headset), it wasn't as good as it was with it in the Sony phone and she couldn't hear me as well. If you've got a good phone (a Panasonic, Sony or Seimens), this ear piece can't be beat. It comes with some attachments to help fix it in your ear. Everyone has a differently shaped ear and not all pieces will fit in everyone's ears. There are other after-market attachments, such as the Jabra form-fitted rubber ear-shaped cups which fit nicely on this ear piece. The boom mike swings toward your mouth and it features a shirt-clip and a microphone mute swtich on the cord as well as a dial to adjust listening volume. Hands-free is the way to be... no more craning your neck and getting fatigued while on the phone... and thanks to Plantronics, you don't have to scream your head off for your callers to hear you.
