2.0 out of 5 stars Hard to find a good headset
I've tried and returned at least 5 headsets ranging from $15 to $150. This one was typical of the others that I returned, low volume on the earpiece and low quality microphone. I finally ended up with a Panasonic TCA60 for about $19 which is very loud and sounds great on both ends. It's nothing fancy, no volume control and no mute, but who needs that when you can...

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Headset, September 4, 2005
This review is from: Plantronics M110 Mobile Headband Headset (45628-51) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This headset that I use with my Uniden cordless phone and Samsung cell phone was a replacement for one by a different brand that broke. This one feels more solid and so far has lasted longer than the old one.

Some reviews about this headset complain that the other side can't hear you or your voice is distorted when you're wearing this headset. There is a little 3-way switch on the plug that you're supposed to adjust until the headset works properly with your phone (I think it's a gain adjustment). When I first tried the headset, I called a friend to help me determine the best position for the switch.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best I have tried for the money., August 11, 2005

I think this is a great headset for the money. I can wear it comfortably for hours. The volume is good. I rarely get complaints from listeners, and when I do, a small movement of the microphone boom fixes it right up.

I own or use 5 headsets. The only headset of the 5 which I have found to be better is the expensive Plantronics I use at work. Of the 4 I have at home, 2 are the "wrap around the ear" kind. I do not find this style comfortable. I cannot wear them for more than about 30 minutes. The Panasonic version has scratchy foam fore the earpiece which makes it almost unusable (as compared to this Plantronics which has a soft, leathery feel).

The other wraparound I have is more of a hard plastic. It feels better, but it still hurts my ear after a while.

The last headset I have at home is an expensive Motorola blue-tooth earpiece for my cell phone. I find that the Motorola does not sound as good (sounds like I am in a garbage can) and is not as comfortable as this Plantronics. I think this headset is a great deal.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works Great For Me, July 8, 2002

This review is from: Plantronics M110 Mobile Headband Headset (45628-51) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I have used this headset for over a year now. It has worked very well for me, using it with my Polycom desk phone. I find it comfortable, with excellent sound quality both from the earpiece and through the microphone to those on the receiving end. I also purchased the Plantronics headset phone which came with this same headset.

The reason I have not given this 5 stars is that I have experienced the same (and only) problem with this headset. The wire is slightly short for my use. This in itself is not a problem, but I tend to pull it, sometime yanking it off my head if I'm reaching too far while on a call. Again, this in itself isn't a problem. However, over time the phone plug has developed a short or something so that the connection sometimes becomes crackily, and worse, sometimes emits an extremely loud screech to through both my earpiece and over the line to the receiver. This has happened to both of my headsets.

I wish the plug was a bit more durable, but given the realitively low price, I will simply purchase a replacement and try not to stretch the wire too often.

I've tried many headsets and I find this the most comfortable and best performing headset.

I actually originally bought this for my cell phone (a Nokia) however for some reason it was not compatible with it and didn't work (so take that as a warning to all you folks with a Nokia). However, instead of returning it, I decided to test it out on my home phone and it worked great! The ONLY negative thing I can really think of to say about it is that this headset is definitely made for people with smaller heads. If your head is anywhere on the bigger side than it may be a little small for you. But as far as sound quality if concerned, you hear everything crystal clear and it is very durable (at least compared to other headsets I've bought in the past). Definitely a good purchase!

5.0 out of 5 stars Good quality. Now good price., September 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Plantronics M110 Mobile Headband Headset (45628-51) (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I use this headset with a cell phone 4-8 hours every day with no problems. The incoming sound quality is indistinguishable from holding the phone to my ear. I have had NO complaints from the many people I talk to that my voice sounds muffled.

I have tried other headsets/earpieces and they all uniformly hurt my ear by the end of the day. This headset has been the best in that regard, though there is still some minor discomfort. Of course the trade-off in this case is that there is a headband over the top of your head which I'm sure some people would find objectionable (hair style interference).

Overall, and certainly for this low price, I highly recommend this product.

I just read the poor reviews and I'm a bit surprised. I use it for business in my office with a Siemens cordless phone and the sound quality is great (fantastic really). You need to set the slide switch for the mic to the highest setting and be sure that the microphone is properly positioned to get the best quality. I assume the positioning is a tradeoff with the limiting of background noise and it does seem to do a good job in that regard. Connected through an adapter to my Nokia 6160 the quality is slightly hollow compared to the office phone but still more than "business" quality and I am able to conduct business without anyone knowing I'm on a mobile phone. If it has any problem it's the hole on the backside of the mic that seems to pick up wind noise -- so keep the top up in the car!

2.0 out of 5 stars Good sound -- worthless mic, January 13, 2005

I was very disappointed by Plantronics dropping the ball on this one. I spend an average of 5-6 hours a day on the phone and enjoyed the M175. Apparently, someone else did also, and I had to get a replacement. Figured the same thing as someone else here and I would save myself $15 and step down.

Headset and earpiece comfort were comparable, as was sound quality (reception). I get so many complaints on the mouthpiece, that I have given it up and am switching back.

Either the mic is poor, or the positioning is bad. I have a small face, and even so, I wish the boom mic was longer and didn't stop at the corner of my mouth.

Bottom line -- unless your mouth curves to one side or you like bending the mic to your mouth, skip this one.

We've had headsets from other manufacturers and found static and had people we've been talking to mention that they have trouble hearing us or that we're breaking up.

These have been great. No complaints, sound is clear and they are comfortable. We had the Plantronics model that had a volume control but never used the feature. These allow me to attach to my Panasonic and V-Tech wireless phones and talk with others while having my hands free.

This headset fits very nicely, and you can hear it and it can hear you very clearly. It's not painful to wear for extended periods of time, and stays on your head. However, after going through two separate phones, I experience an odd problem where after a while it'll start making screeching sounds, which can only be corrected by rotating the plug into just the right position. A little tape can usually fix this, but it's still a nuisance.
