Plantronics MX510-N3 Windsmart Boom Headset for Nokia 6600, 7200, 3100, 3200, 3300, 3585, 6200, 6800 Series

For some reason they don't list all the phones that this headset fits. The MX510-N3 specifically works on the Nokia 6101 (T-Mobile) and 6102 (Cingular). If you're wondering if your phone will work with this model just visit the Plantronics web site where they show exactly which headsets fit which phones.

I've used the MX510 for a few weeks and found that it functions perfectly. The volume control is excellent - have been able to hear people with highway background noise. The answer button, at least on the Nokia 6101, plays double duty as a channel changer when you're listening to the FM radio. This is a great extra to have if you use the radio.

When I first purchased the Nokia I didn't realize that they used proprietary accessories. (Had I known I certainly wouldn't have chosen a Nokia.) I quickly discovered that this made it difficult to find the accessories I wanted. Specifically, I was looking for a headset with a mic that came closer to my mouth. This model is about the only one I could find that came close.

This headset is a bit peculiar and people might be skeptical of its design, but it does indeed work. The big drawback, however, is that this does not lend itself to comfort. Whereas in the past I could have an over the head style headset on for hours without discomfort, the MX510 I can only use for about a half hour before it begins to hurt a bit.

Lastly, this model, despite its features, is severely over priced. This is probably due to the proprietary nature of working with Nokia phones. If this were a standard 2.5mm jack headset, this model, like most standard headsets, would definitely sell for less.

I LOVE this headset! I used to constantly get complaints from friends because they couldn't hear me clearly. I would often find myself holding my headset closer to my mouth just to be heard which really eliminated the "hands free" feature on my old headset. I poked around Amazon and found this great Plantronics headset that not only uses "voice tube" technology to cut down on external wind noise, but comes with two different leghths of tube. I love having options! Not everyone has the same sized/shaped head so it's helpful to have a choice and the rotating earpiece fits comfortably in any ear. It wasn't in the description, but this headset also features a one-button pick-up/hang-up, volume control and a mute button!

No one knows I am on a headset... sounds great, switches ears easily, comfortable. There is nothing to improve one... makes the Jabra model I had seem like a toy.

My boss always complained before when I was driving down the road talking to him. Now that I have the MX510-N3 Windsmart Boom Headset he has to ask me "Are you driving?" he can't believe how much road noise is cancelled with this headset. For some reason we talk longer and he is not in such a rush to get off the phone with me. He claims that it is just as quiet as when I am setting in my office.

I need Plantronics to make this to fit the 3650 and the 3595 Series phones. I will buy more!!!

it looks swanky and slick however in actual use the insert causes irritation in the ear after some use. i would recommnend u go with the conventional circular inserts for the ears. but yeah the reception of sound is crystal clear! i mean no disturbance or intereferrence of any sort!

I have never had much luck with cell phone headsets - either I can't hear or the person I am speaking to cannot hear me. I spent a little more than I wanted to on this hoping it would work and it does. The proof came when I plugged it in mid-conversation and my caller wanted to know if I had disconnected my headset. They said I sounded clearer with it on than off (even with the car AC on high). I can also hear much better with it plugged in than without (no more shouting!). It can be a little uncomfortable after a while, but I am willing to live with that given the big improvement in sound quality.

It sounds loud and clear. It takes a little getting used to, but is moderately comfortable. The volume feature and answer/hang up button are a great convenience!

This model does not support Nokia 6600, which is why I gave it a three stars. I have nothing to say about the product, since I am returning it. It took me two weeks to get, only to discover that the info provided here was not right. Pretty disappointing :(
