5.0 out of 5 stars Great Headset
This is a great headset I have several blue tooth head sets for my computer, with marginal success. I wanted to get a wireless head set that I could use with my computer that would work well with skype and Voice over IP services. This head set works great, and has a fabulous range, way better than anything blue tooth. It is a little expensive, but worth it.

My office bought this headset for me (from amazon) so I could use it with both their VOIP software as well as with my desk phone. I had been a long term (more than 5 years) Plantronics CS50 900 MHz Wireless Office Headset System user who really liked the comfort and capabilities of the CS50, though my battery was starting to be short lived -- it was down to about 3 hours after 5 years of use).

The good:

* Setup was easy on both the desk phone and the computer.
* Sound quality is great
* Unit works at least twice as far as the CS50 (sometimes I roam around outside the house while on a call)
* Battery life is great (more than 6 hours, though I am guessing that's somewhat related to how far you are away from the device).

The bad:

* Over the head band won't stay on my head unless I keep my head perfectly level (if I look down at something on my desk, it falls forward -- even when I have made the band tight to the point of being uncomfortable). I think this is because there is no friction between the headband and the earpiece -- if you hold the headset by the band, the earpiece swings freely).
* Mute operation sucks -- instead of a single quick on/off button, you have to hold the volume down button for a period of time (about 1.5 second - which sounds quick, but when you've already forgotten that you're on mute and nobody's hearing what you're saying and when you prematurely release the button sometimes, the others on your call start to think you've been dropped).
* As some others have noted, the earpiece picks up noise any time it comes anywhere near your face and when you try to adjust it in the headband, it usually pops out and you're trying to put it back together in the middle of a call.
* The earbud model of the earpiece is uncomfortable on long calls. The on the ear cushion model of the CS50 was much more comfortable on those multi-hour conference calls.

I much prefer the design, comfort and utility of the headset on the CS50 than I do the headset of this unit and wish there was an option to get the same headset for this base. I feel that way strongly enough that I'm leaning towards using the CS50 for desk calls (the majority of my calls) and only using the Savi for VOIP calls which would be a waste of the product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost... but not quite, February 3, 2010

I have been using this product almost every day for the past 6 months. Sound quality is excellent and it is really easy to use. I love the ability to easily switch from Computer VOIP to regular phone and even to conference between them. I also love the freedom it gives me to roam around the office. The sound quality is really good even at very long distances from the base (at least 100 ft).

Here is what I don't like. The earpiece is not that comfortable. It is not as bad as the other reviewer suggested, but I certainly don't "love" it. Could be MUCH better. The other problem I have is the fact that when the earpiece is in the cradle, the battery on the earpiece starts draining as soon as it finishes charging. In day-to-day use this is not a problem, but after coming back to the office from a 1 week business trip, the device will not work until I recharge the earpiece... Not a major problem but very unexpected.

1.0 out of 5 stars Hurts to use., December 11, 2011
This review is from: Plantronics Savi Office WO100 Convertible Wireless Headset DECT 6.0 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Besides actually causing pain in the ear that the ridiculous ear piece goes into the sound is mediocre. I am very, very displeased with this product. The only purpose of a headset is to make it MORE comfortable, not less comfortable. They missed the point.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not bad, but standby needs to be longer, October 13, 2011

I needed to have a headset to work with office phone and with office communicator (or any PC app that will utilize phone-like conversation). This works great as it's lightweight and my other older Plantronics works well (CS55 or something like that). It does seem lacking a little on the volume even when adjusted on the PC. One thing that really caught me by surprise is the lack of standby time. I had to call Plantronics support to confirm. though it has a 9 hr talk time, the standy time is only between 40-42 hours. As a worker in a hoteling system (different cube daily), I have to put away everything and when I started a call today Thursday at 9am after signing off Tuesday 3pm, it was already beeping for low battery. So that's a drawback if you have to put away your office items daily as it might be dead next you come in.

Range is lacking compared to my regular wireless headset (Jabra gn5000). Compared to that, it feels like I cannot go outside my immediate area. I think the range is only about 70 ft before it starts getting a lot of static. With my old Jabra, I can out the parking lot and thru a lot of walls! Range was a little disappointing but what can one do?

As others have written, the headset could be more comfortable, but aside from that, it is an excellent choice for a home office headset based on the sound quality, range, and the flexibility (you can use is for landline and PC, which I do often for GoToMeetings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Updated CS55, February 1, 2011

Bought this to replace a CS55 when i switched jobs. This wants to hold to your ear by the bud inside your ear as opposed to the earloops that the CS55 uses so i dont think it holds quite as tight. Can connect to computer, phone or even both at the same time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great -- am shocked so many people have bad reviews, May 20, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Plantronics Savi Office WO100 Convertible Wireless Headset DECT 6.0 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
Great headset --- I have used a CS50/55 headset for 5 years, but wanted a headset that could do both telephone and video/computer calls.

But am shocked at how many negative reviews there were. This is an excellent headset. Especially after I've used the Jabra version (9350, I think) and couldn't make it work well. I think that might be the problem, this type of product is a fairly sophisticated piece of electronics.

See below for pros/cons. But range and sound quality were excellent; same as my CS50/55. It's better than the JABRA, because the JABRA was very wavy in sound. Like the JABRA, range in an office building environment can be about 300 feet I'm guessing.

PROS:
Comfortable. As comfortable as these things can be. The problem usually is it needs to be tight on your head so it doesn't move and create muffled microphone sounds and/or wavy earpiece sounds. The earpiece looks weird, but had no issues with the fit of it. This is fine.

Switchable on headset. Unlike Jabra, this can be switched from computer to telephone on the headset without the base.

Switches fast. JABRA used to have a 2-3 second delay when switching (which it could only do on the base).

Both telephone and computer at same time. Nice to have ability to listen to computer sounds at same time as telephone if multi-tasking. Not available on JABRA

Uses HL10. The same old HL10 lifter can be reused from your old system with this one. My 5 year old one works perfectly.

Can be used on either ear. Inexplicably, this isn't true for the JABRA for most of the wearing options. This one can be used on either ear. (The JABRA only really worked on the right ear and I'm deaf in that ear).

CONS:
Is different than Plantronics other headsets in feel. If you're used to the old stuff, you'll need to reprogram your brain how it works. For instance the mute is now holding the volume down button down, not pushing the volume piece in. Not a big deal, but I think why people have been giving bad reviews.

I'm used to the over the ear part of the headset with the loop with the CS50/55. Most people didn't like this one on the CS55, but I did. Nonetheless, it is a small step backwards if this is what you're used to --- you might find yourself switching to over the head or behind the head like I did.

PS. I didn't use the software, so no input on that, but it's a 3rd way to change other than headset and base.

1.0 out of 5 stars The worst wireless headset I have ever used, March 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Plantronics Savi Office WO100 Convertible Wireless Headset DECT 6.0 (Wireless Phone Accessory)
This is the worst headset I have ever used. I have been using Plantronics headsets for 7 years. The last one was the CS50 (which was mediocre at best). I purchased two of these at the same time. One was very difficult to set up the other one was dead on arrival. When I called Plantronics, they were nice but really didn't seem to care and told me there was nothing they could do. I was so shocked. I am ultimately glad that I received such poor service as it lead me to the Jabra Pro 9470, which is the best headset I have ever used and it is the easiest set up I have ever performed. If you are looking for a office headset, you should start and end your search with Jabra.

The earpiece on this headset is horrendous. The CIA should use it to coerce confessions from terrorists. It won't stay in your ear and when it does it hurts like h311. The sound quality is good but the mic makes an aweful noise if it even barely touches your face[which it will constantly since it always slips from your ear]. I guess you could use the included headband but that is pretty lame [IMHO]. Also, it would not sync up with the provided software for use as a VOIP headset [Plantronics support said "Doh!"]. Sending this one back and getting another CS-55.
