When I dropped my Plantronics headset in the toilet, I found I had to order a replacement. I ordered it through an Amazon related business, even though it was about $10 over the lowest price I found on the Internet.(I was unfamiliar with the electronics store with the lowest price.)

It worked like the original. The only hurdle, when I received it there were no instructions on how to program it to work with the original hand set lifter.

I did find instructions on how to do it on the Plantronics website and was able to make it with my original set.

Also if you need a replacement, keep the plastic ear pieces and head bands from the original. The replacement includes only the basic ear piece.

As shown by the current photo, this is a replacement for the earboom only, not for the base. It comes without the earloop or headband attachments too, so make sure you save yours from your prior unit.

Finally, it comes without instructions, so you will need to know how to synchronize it with your existing base. (Instructions follow at the end of this review).

With all that said, I still gave it five stars, because *if* you want a replacement earboom, this is exactly what you need, and because the overall unit is great. I use mine every day -- it's clear, has great range, and is an overall life saver.

Question:
I am dropping calls and/or the headset does recognize the base or the indicator lights are not functioning.

Answer:
The headset and the base unit are supplied subscribed to each other. However, if you wish to use a replacement headset with the base unit then you must re-subscribe as follows:

To Re-Subscribe:
1. Return the headset to the charge cradle.

2. Press and hold both the talk volume fine tune buttons on the back of the base for a minimum of 5 seconds. The power indicator light on the front of the base will then flash red.

3. Next, with the headset still in the base. Press and hold the headset mute control button for a minimum of 5 seconds. The talk indicator light on the headset will then illuminate green.

Successful re-subscription is indicated when the power indicator is fully illuminated and the talk indicator light is off.

4. To complete the process, reset the base unit by disconnecting the AC power adapter and lifter from the bottom of the base unit for 5 seconds, then reconnect.

Warning - I ordered this item described as a CS50 "System" but all I got was a bag with an ear boom labeled "spare" with no manual, cords, charger base, ear cushion, or attachments. This is a replacement part only, not a complete unit.

You buy it. You attach it to the headset. You set it up per the instructions on the Plantronics website. It works. What else is there to say?

I received my product from PC Universe, and there was no ear piece as shown in the photo of the product. I was purchasing this to replace a lost headset, but it was unuseable without the earpiece. I am returning it.

I am writing this review by talking it to my Mac computer. Walter

My office staff love this system and one unit quit working after about 2 years; not the battery. This solved the problem and was shipped fast; works like it should and good price over a new system.

As one who spends a lot of time on outboud calls, I find this tool indispensable

It connected easily to our ITT EKS-616 system. It's been working great for over a year; we just bought another one. When I got it, the ear pieces were pinching horribly. Even tho I bought it thru either Amazon or Ebay (can't remember), Plantronics was quick to send out their newly designed ones. They also helped me get the settings tuned for the best quality. We're very pleased with the performance - small office, not constant use - mainly for long calls or eternal hold situations. I wear mine with the over-the-head connector and if I am using it for long periods on an active day, I get a sore ear from frequent pushing of the connect button. The new one, tho, seems to have come with a cushion, so maybe it is not causing that kind of soreness. Spring for the HL-10 lifter - it's worth it.

WHY SHOULD I BE OUT $8.96 FOR SENDING BACK TWO PRODUCTS THAT DID NOT WORK.
