The sound and microphone quality on these are ridiculous.

I could only wear them for a couple hours at most before I had to take a break but after pulling on them and breaking them in by wearing them, they feel fantastic.

Overall even though it didn't work out exactly the way I had hoped I am still very satisfied with the headset.

I've received my Gamecom Commanders in the mail a couple weeks ago now and I have to say that I'm pretty impressed with them.

When I first got these things, I'll admit that they were painfully tight fitting. I could only wear them for a couple hours at most before I had to take a break but after pulling on them and breaking them in by wearing them, they feel fantastic.

The padding around the ears are super soft and cushy. They also act as a seal that helps block out a lot of the noise around me when I'm in the middle of playing a game, listening to music, or on a call.

Speaking of being on a call, the mic on these things is incredible! I actually had several people ask me what I did to my audio settings to sound so clear and I told them I had just got a new pair of headphones. One of the people even said he might consider getting a pair just for the mic (I don't know if I would personally fork over $300 for just a mic though to be honest).

The audio quality is great. The first thing I did with these things was hop into Call of Duty 4 after a couple years of not playing just to see how different the game was with 7.1 (CoD 4 outputs a maximum of 5.1 surround sound though) surround sound. I was accused of wallhacking (being able to see people through obstacles) in the first few rounds of the game because I could tell EXACTLY where a person was and start aiming at corners they were about to turn through. I popped in Call of Duty 1 as well and spent a good deal of time hiding in corners and following the sound for sneaky melee kills.

When I'm not using these for playing games I listen to music with them. I'm no audiophile and sound quality is pretty subjective but I must say that these do a hell of a job reproducing sounds.

I am not a gamer.
I just want something that will make my cellphone as clear as my music.

But I agree with most of these gamers.
The sound quality in this headset...
...is WITHOUT EQUAL, both coming AND going.

But there is one big (highly regretted) caveat, for me:

If you don't have VERY small, VERY flat, ears... these are ON-the-ear, NOT Around-the-ear, headphones.
For me, they have to come off after an hour of flattening my ears, whether I am in the middle of something or not.

And since they are not AroundTheEar, the noise-cancellation IN THE EARPIECES, but not in the mic, is compromised.

I had to send them back.
It feels like these were still on the drawing board when someone decided it was time to ship them.
These are high quality. They don't get to have even one GLARING flaw.

But these are expensive, and partly awesome, so if more detail is called for, maybe this will help:

I have GradoSR60, BoseQC15, and AKG701, headsets... for music-listening.
And they are ALL wonderful... though all are slightly different in how they render sound.
Amazingly, to me, I now actually SLIGHTLY prefer listening to music with the Plantronics Gamecom. No way I would have expected that. No way I would have even thought that possible. But that WAS exactly what I was hoping for... one headset that could take me from cellphone... to cd... to dvd... to tv... to computer... ie: something that would allow me to throw away the Grado, the Bose, the AKG, and about five thousand lesser gnarls of twine.

These take a backseat to no one... at least to no one under $500.

And that is not even the amazing part.

Plantronics Gaming Tournament Headset for PC (GAMECOM COMMANDER)

Great concept, great look and feel, Very poor ear cup positioning system. Un-wearable...

I REALLY wanted to love these headphones, I really wanted a pair but at 300.00 they were out of my price point. When I saw them for 149.00, I was pumped to order them. The overall look and feel of this headset pro-gaming gear. The mic boom is the BEST I have ever seen or used, stiff, easy to move, rotates out of the way stays where you put it. The microphone has excellent sound quality again the best I have experience in a gaming headset, very clear voice, excellent gain, made great recording and phone calls and my team mates all commented on the clarity of in game chat.

The ear cups are solid and remind me of aviation or shooting cups, they have a very bomber attitude to them. When it come to how they sound you have to remember that these are not audiophile headphones, they lack in the low end range, mid to highs and vocal are excellent. Very clear and because they are closed back cups they mask any outside noise. They sound like dead space when you mute them, great isolation feeling.... Would be great in a tournament environment.

The USB 7.1 has fair separation but is not as pronounced as 5.1 analog phones. These phones do not have an analog capability other than then do come with a 3.5mm stereo audio / microphone jacks.... There is one 40mm driver in each ear piece; it is a very clear and accurate driver with no noticeable distortion even with bomb explosions and tanks in the sound space.

Everything so far says 9 out of 10.... Until you try any wear them for more than 15 minutes.
