5.0 out of 5 stars HIGH Quality - Low Cost Alternative to Blue Tooth
I have a Plantronics Explorer 510 Blue Tooth headset, and I really like it. (See my review). But I don't always remember to keep it charged, so I run out of battery before I run out of "talkery!"

I was chatting online with a Plantronics customer support specialist who suggested that rather than buying a car charger, why not buy a wired set as a backup...

3.0 out of 5 stars Not Suitable for Landline Phones - Only for Cell Phones
I own this product and have used it for 1 month. Product finish and quality is good. I bought it to use with our home phone with 2.5mm plug jack. For the headset user the sound is very good. For the other person the headset user's voice is too far away - but still audible. (They always can tell when you are using it). No way to adjust mic or headset volume.

I have a Plantronics Explorer 510 Blue Tooth headset, and I really like it. (See my review). But I don't always remember to keep it charged, so I run out of battery before I run out of "talkery!"

I was chatting online with a Plantronics customer support specialist who suggested that rather than buying a car charger, why not buy a wired set as a backup? GREAT idea!

The Plantronics MX256-X1* is a SUPERB piece - EXCELLENT sound quality on both ends of the call, with ONE TOUCH Answer/End call if your phone is so-equipped (e.g. Sprint's Voice Command) It WEIGHS LESS than its wireless counterparts, and is VERY comfortable to wear for extended periods: This unit features a SOFT silicone "clip" that attaches to the backside of your ear, not over the top. This means that it won't interfere with your glasses like the vast majority of Blue Tooth devices!

* NOTE: It is the X1 designation on ALL Plantronics wired sets that denotes compatibility with one-touch-equipped/voice command-type phones. IF your phone has this capability, make sure you look for a Plantronics unit with the x1 designation.

Excellent sound quality. Noise cancellation really works. The button on the headset string lets you automatically place a call and end the call. Very nice. Works much better and more reliably than ANY BlueTooth set I've tried - and I've tried almost all of them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Finally, May 9, 2008
This review is from: Plantronics UPMX256X1 Flex Grip Headset (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I speak approx. 5000 minutes a month on the cell phone. For one reason or another the bluetooths have not been conistent enough for me. They always seem to falter at critical times and I have tried at least a dozen of them.
After finally going with the wired ones and I have tried literally 25 to 30 of these wired headsets and the average cost of them was about $20 - $22. I use them mostly when I am driving, but they always seem wanting in one way or another. There never seems to be enough volume on them. Finally this one makes it. It works great and the volume level is more than adequate - Horray!
If you are looking for a reliable excellent headset and not want to burn your ear with just using the phone earpiece, this is the one to get. I am actually ordering another one today!

I work in the health care field and have to travel many miles every day to see my patients. Communication via cell phone is critical and I carry more than one brand of phone. I am very pleased with the quality and comfort of this headset and recommend it.

I've owned this ear-piece for a couple of months now and I'm quite satisfied. I've bought cheap headsets in the past and had to replace them around the 6-month mark so I'm hoping this will hold out. Sound quality is better than the cheap ones and this just feels like more substantial hardware. Push button to talk while driving is a plus, but we all know you should get off your phones while driving. This is my favorite mic over the four others I have owned.

I have been using Plantronics headsets for many years. They have all been *awesome* - the best sound quality and great durability. You must be sure to purchase the right product, however. [...] I wish other people who review products would be more careful. The Plantronics website quickly checks compatibility for you - a few extra seconds well spent. Also, if you are not satisfied with *any* product, most manufacturers appreciate the feedback and will help. They want satisfied customers. Amazon is also great at processing returns, if necessary. One final product comment - people tell me the sound quality of my cell phone is *better* with the Plantronics headset than without it! Plus, I can speak in a normal or quiet voice and still be heard clearly. The noise canceling mic really works!

5.0 out of 5 stars Works great for this sales person, May 2, 2008

I'm in field sales and on the road daily. Sick of the road noise which my (yes it's older) bluetooth headset was picking up, purchased the MX256-X1. The noise cancelling does work and now I'm using this for both my cell and home cordless phone.

I would have to guess that other complaints were not a result of the headset not being good, but maybe the phones it is used with. Great product, great price, great buy.

I read all the reviews from everyone about this item before deciding to purchase it. I agree with them, that it is a great headset. I'm an avid walker, and now happy to be able to chat with my friends with a great noise-canceling feature.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good sound quality, September 17, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

It actually said "Verizon Wireless" on it, not plantronics, which doesn't really matter to me. It is pretty much exactly the same as what the picture shows. The headset came with a 4 inch long wire type 2.5-3.5in adapter, which wasn't expected. I was actually looking everywhere for one of those, thanks! The sound quality is good, and the button works on my phone (HTC Incredible), short press plays music, long press opens the voice dialer. Also has a clip to hold the wire onto something.
