I'm pretty much writing this review just to bump up the overall score because it doesn't deserve getting rated a 1 out of 5 stars just because this version is missing the Thriller Zombie.
Other than the missing Thriller Zombie (has be replaced by a Disco Zombie due to legal reasons), this is the pretty much the same game you know and love. Tower Defense with plants and zombies. Whee! You also get a pretty decent Zombie figurine and the ability to create your own zombies. Fun for the whole family.

This game is so addicting. You can play it so many times and still find/do new things. I love the figurine that comes with this, he is as cute as a zombie can be! The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the game is not compatible with updated 3D accelerator drivers. If you don't disable them, the game will freeze and you cannot play. If you do disable them, the game looks terrible. I really hope they get this fixed.

Sssssh....my 10 and 12 yo nieces are getting this for Xmas. Since it was named "Game of the Year", I had to test drive it first. OMG....great fun...and funny...and mega-CLEVER!
I'm only on Level 5, but what I can unequivocally say thus far is....It will make a terrific Xmas gift! Check out this ray of sunshine. Here's how it works: You plant sunflowers and capture the "sunshine" they make. That lets you plant more flowers...triple-action peashooters, Venus flytraps that devour the Zombies and dozens more.
But here's the kicker...you have a basketful of seeds, but you can't plant all the varieties....you have to choose which you're going to use prior to each game.
Which means....you have to THINK and STRATEGIZE....what's with that? And if your hand-eye-brain coordination needs work, you'll get better in a hurry. You plant and plant and replant your garden. Yes, they give you a virtual shovel so you can get some real, virtual exercise (is that an oxymoron).
Dig out a plant, and plant a better one in its place. But move fasssst, cause there are pole-vaulting zombies, zombies in cars, Zombies floating in on balloons. Speaking of that....
Gotta go. Have an important strategy meeting on the roof of my house. You did know that Zombies can climb down the chimney and EAT your BRAINS, didn't you? (insert spookie Zombie music here)
If you don't know what to get your kids this Holiday Season, and if they're somewhere between 7 and 97...this would be an outstanding choice. Happy Planting!

I tend to lean more towards time management games but I really loved this one. Plants Vs. Zombies is a lot of fun. With all the mini-games, puzzles, and survival mode on top of the Adventure mode, you have plenty to do. The graphics are a bit cartoon like, but this just adds to the game. All in all it is worth the money and will give you hours of entertainment.

This game has absolutely everything. You play plants. You can select usually up to 8 plants for a mission. The first 10 missions are very easy. There are about 5 levels with about 10 stages each. It is very funny and humorous. The game can seem short, but you have a bunch of extras. You get puzzle modes with feel like other POP CAP games Zombified. They have puzzle/survival/mini-games. Hours of fun. The best parts are the Tree of knowledge and the zen garden. You get rewarded to water plants and raise them...then you can either sell or keep. It is called the ZEN-garden. I really enjoy it. The Tree of wisdom which you purchase from Crazzy (not a typo) Dave is then found in your zen garden. You purchase fertilizer for the tree at $2500 a piece. Every time you fertilize your tree it grows and gives you advice. It tells you cheats and the zombie stats. But I feel that there is more to this game...

I am a 64 year old woman and am totally addicted to this game. It has provided me with endless, challenging fun. I bought the original version after trying the download and when I bought a new Mac computer I bought the Game of the Year edition which is even more awesome. I have most of my grandchildren playing it. My six year old grandson in Virginia insisted to his father that he had to call me to tell me he was on the Roof level. My nine year old grandson emailed me that he had completed the Adventure level. It has given us lots to talk about when we are together or on the phone. They tell me I'm an "awesome Grandma". I play lots of computer games and this is the best so far. Even though I have completed all the levels, I still go back and play the mini games or do the Adventure level over again. The endless level is a constant challenge. So glad I am retired!

I have this game and I am so addicted to playing it. the best part is, as you play you unlock other games and it keeps me entertained. Unlike other games, after you've beaten the game, you start over with new challenges. There are so many different aspects to the game. Action, adventure, puzzle, brain games and even casual gaming. It's an all-in-one game and I highly recommend it for anyone who wants a game that they can play again and again.

I've been using computers since 1989 and have played thousands of games, and never found one that is just simple fun like PvZ. I can say NOTHING bad about it. I play it on Windows 7, Mac OS X, iPad, and iPhone--and I'm still not tired of it. My favorite minigame is where you're the zombies and you have to eat all the brains--I could play that one for hours without getting out of my chair if my husband would let me. I got my first copy of this game shortly after it came out a few years ago and I"m still playing it regularly. A fantastic value and just good plain old fun.

This game has got to be one of the best games I've ever played. Not too hard for the first time you win the game, but I'm on round three and it is getting much harder. It is really funny also. You have all sorts of zombies to defeat. This would be a great game for kids and adults alike. Definately worth the money.

OMG! this game is so much fun. i like it because its not gory like you would expect a zombie game to be! i would recommend this game to anyone! once you complete the game in adventure mode you can take care of your zen garden, play mini games, or play the puzzles. this way you never have to stop playing the game.
