5.0 out of 5 stars Honest Review from Daily Gamer August 20, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is a third person shooter pitting (you guessed it) plants against zombies in different combat modes, from a team deathmatch to a domination game type variant. Each side consists of 4 different classes.

Plants get: Chomper a melee class that can burrow underground and is perfect for stealth, Peashooter the assault class who can gain extra jump and speed ability to get up high and take out the zombies below, Sunflower the "medic" who can heal other plants, while also using a sunbeam (think laser) to take out zombies while planted into the ground, and finally my favorite the cactus who snipes from afar while also laying down barriers in the form of walnuts.

Zombies have: foot soldier who is like the peashooter and is the assault class on the zombie team, the engineer who uses a grenade launcher type weapon while using a jackhammer to move around the map quickly and is protected from chompers while riding it who may try to swallow him whole, the scientist who uses a shotgun type weapon and is best suited for being up close to enemies, he can also heal other zombies and throw grenades, and finally the all star zombie who is the tank of the zombie team and uses a "gattling gun" type weapon while also charging forward toward plants to deal heavy damage and clear objectives.

After you get the feel of playing the different classes you can start to earn coins to buy booster packs to unlock variants to each class. A hot rod chomper who can move even faster after swallowing a zombie, a frozen peashooter who can slow down enemies, and a plumber (engineer) who uses a toilet bowl gun and deals even more damage.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Best Multi-Player Games August 25, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
I do not often give a video game five stars, but this one earned it. Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare on the PS4 is an excellent game. You will enjoy it, as long as you know what you are buying. The first thing you need to know, is that this is a multi-player game. This is not a game with multi-player. ALL MODES are essentially multi-player.

The two main sections are a co-op, base defense game that is very similar to the Mass Effect 3 multi-player. The other section is a straight up vs. mode.

Normally I hate competitive vs. multi-player. This game is different. They do an excellent job keeping the playing field level. It's difficult for one or two players to brutalize the other players, as is so common in many multi-player modes.

They did an excellent job mixing up characters. They are diverse and enjoyable. They are so well balanced that I do not have a favorite class yet.

This is a third person shooter which sounds violent. However, they do it in a manner that is not gory. This game is safe for kids and fun for adults.

Approachable for people who have never played multi-player games.

Great graphics even if they are cartoonish.

Clean and responsive game play.

Great mix of classes.

Great character animations.

Not as violent as most multi-player games.

No story mode.

Lacks a real solo mode.

100% reliant on centralized servers.

One final comment - like ALL PS4 multi-player games, this game requires a subscription to Play Station Plus. If you do not have a PSP account or do not want to pay for it, buy the PS3 version. That version is also ten dollars cheaper.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must have if you enjoy shooters August 19, 2014
Platform for Display:PlayStation 4
I played this game on the Xbox 360 and couldn't resist buying it for the PS4. There is a significant increase in the quality of the graphics and gameplay, a lot more fluid and fun. This has to be one of the most fun games available at the moment as it is well designed but it doesn't take itself too seriously. It is also deeper than it appears initially and the classes are well balanced with great maps. Can't wait to spend endless hours of fun playing it during the next few months.

This is an absolutely adorable game! The graphics aren't too bad for a game meant to be silly. The characters and class variations are very fun. The game does not require you to buy coins to unlock characters, weapons or customizations...the amount you can earn in game are quite generous, and I have never even considered paying for extra coins. The publishers have continued to provide seasonal stickers and in-game variations, so that is a big plus.

There are only two things I could gripe about is that the number of maps feels quite limited at times. Also, while they have "classic vanquish" or "classic gardens and graveyards" modes, not many people play those, and I usually end up solo. That isn't against the game, it is just people queuing up in the other variations.

The second is the party system. In garden open, you go to a screen where you can select the map, difficulty, invite friends, and all that, and it works well. However, in standard multiplayer, it only has the option to "join as party," meaning who you have in your PS party chat. I'd be fine with this, however, the person who queues up finds a match, joins, and then it sends an invite to the other player(s) via PSN. The person/people then have to accept it, and hope that they can get into the match...and that they are on the same side. My friend just got the game, we tried to play together, and it pitted me against my highest vanquish match ever.

Requires a separate subscription. Yes, it says that in the product description, but not very clearly, at least to a PS newbie. Very bad way to sell a product.
