Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare is a third person shooter pitting (you guessed it) plants against zombies in different combat modes, from a team deathmatch to a domination game type variant. Each side consists of 4 different classes.

Plants get: Chomper a melee class that can burrow underground and is perfect for stealth, Peashooter the assault class who can gain extra jump and speed ability to get up high and take out the zombies below, Sunflower the "medic" who can heal other plants, while also using a sunbeam (think laser) to take out zombies while planted into the ground, and finally my favorite the cactus who snipes from afar while also laying down barriers in the form of walnuts.

Zombies have: foot soldier who is like the peashooter and is the assault class on the zombie team, the engineer who uses a grenade launcher type weapon while using a jackhammer to move around the map quickly and is protected from chompers while riding it who may try to swallow him whole, the scientist who uses a shotgun type weapon and is best suited for being up close to enemies, he can also heal other zombies and throw grenades, and finally the all star zombie who is the tank of the zombie team and uses a "gattling gun" type weapon while also charging forward toward plants to deal heavy damage and clear objectives.

After you get the feel of playing the different classes you can start to earn coins to buy booster packs to unlock variants to each class. A hot rod chomper who can move even faster after swallowing a zombie, a frozen peashooter who can slow down enemies, and a plumber (engineer) who uses a toilet bowl gun and deals even more damage.

The game includes Garden Ops (think horde mode), Welcome mat (beginner mode for people to get the feel of the game), Team Vanquish (team deathmatch), Vanquish Confirmed (kill an opponent and collect the fallen item to get score), Suburbination (domination), Gardens and Graveyards (Conquest and Rush modes from Battlefield), and Gnome Bomb (Obliteration mode from battlefield where you take a gnome to a spot to blow up an objective).

Popcap has been supporting this game since it released on the xbox one and xbox 360 with FREE dlc. More variants for characters, maps and game modes have been added to the game, with even more to come along the way. Just recently they launched a promotion with cheetos and if you buy a specially marked bag of chips you get chester cheetah costumes for characters and $10 off the game.

Finally I want to talk about my personal experience since I unlocked everything from the xbox one version and have now purchased this version. Please be aware you must have an internet connection to play this game. It says so on the cover, but I know some will take that for the multiplayer. This is crucial because some people just want to let their kids play and don't necessarily have the console hooked up to the internet connection. Parents will need to help people under the age of 13 set this game up to be able to play, please be aware of that due to the Origin account.

The game does look slightly better than the xbox one version (ps4 version is 1080p). Just from playing for 4-5 hours yesterday on release it just feels better. If you own this game already on the xbox one there is no need to get this game, unless you're like me and you have friends who are just beginning to play this great game for the first time and you want to unlock everything all over again.

This game was my favorite game I owned on my xbox one (even more than dead rising 3, killer instinct and titanfall) and I couldn't recommend it enough. For 40 bucks this game will keep you entertained and since Popcap will keep supporting it for free, there is even more to come.

This is an extremely fun game, it can be quite challenging but be warned you MUST have an internet connection AND Playstation Plus in order to play. The game is online only, even the local co-op requires you to be online. There is no single player campaign, and there are about 5 or 6 online game modes. I would have given the game 4 stars if it had a campaign or offline local co-op

My son got this game for Christmas, but unfortunately we never even got a chance to play this game. First, it REQUIRES a Playstation Plus account — this makes no sense if he just wants to play locally (not online). Second, I have him set up as a subaccount of my Playstation Network account, and when I do that it doesn't even allow him to play the game.

I use the PSN subaccounts to use the parental controls, but this game won't work with that. So annoying — I wish I could return it.

I don't understand what is wrong with EA recently. they stopped supporting driving wheels for NFS series and this happened. This game doesn't work offline and it keeps asking to sign in to PS plus. There is no way to get out to original menu to play split screen or solo play. This is simply disgusting.

This game can be a lot of fun, and younger kids find it quite entertaining. That is, they would if they were allowed to play. Both my children are over the 10yrs requirement of the game; however, they are not allowed to play online, because Electronic Arts prevents children from using their accounts online. So the people EA is marketing this game to are not allowed to play. Do they expect I will create adult accounts for my young kids to use, violating both EA's terms of service and Sony's? It's not clear to me how they anticipate children will be able to play without violating their own policies. It makes me think they are marketing this dishonestly. If you have young kids, and you use parental controls to guide their activities, then stay away from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare.

Got this game for free during Xmas when ea was giving it away for free. Great game. Only knock is that starting out u will play against many players who are fully upgraded and many unlocked characters and items and May struggle. They Have a mode called welcome mat which I think is supposed to be for beginners but anyone is allowed to join. They should limit this to rank 10 or something. Other than that great game when psn isn't down!

Girlfriend is obsessed with this game... I am a pretty intense gamer (so I've been told); I like open-world games with freedom to do as I please. I like high-detailed shooters and games with customization and upgrade-able features.
THIS game actually has be coming back for more... I'm shocked... I've found myself putting FarCry4 and GTAV away to pop this game in for a few hours.
It's addicting.

This game is awesome, not just for kids, for everyone, casual gamer or hardcore. What you've got here is a wonderfully creative online third-person shooter, with plenty to do, unlock, and discover as you continue to get better and better at not only working as a team but getting more skillful at the game in general. Team Fortress 2 fans in particular will probably feel right at home with this title.

The best thing is how it has been getting updated with free dlc, so the game just keeps getting bigger and better!

My kids and husband love this game! Very different from the ipad 2D app version. The graphics are 3d and you can play online with others. Very cool features.

I can't figure out the controls and am not very good at this game. But, the gamers in my house can't get enough of PS4 Plants vs Zombies!
