Purchased at Christmas on special for $7.99. Instructions are at best minimal, but 7-year old daughter seems to have been able to figure it out without difficulty. Unit is physically a little smaller than I expected, and screen is only 2.5-inches, but it is colorful, it makes all the necessary noises, and it does seem to work (in hand-held mode, anyway, haven't plugged it into a TV yet because the cord is only about 6-feet long and I need it about twice as long before I'll let the kids use it on the TV). The games appear to include knockoffs of Tetris, Bejeweled, and Brickbreaker.
Haven't had any problems with unit. Hasn't started eating batteries.
UPDATE DECEMBER 2010 (12-MONTHS AFTER PURCHASE)
Daughter, now 8-years old, is still playing with game. It doesn't eat batteries and has been dropped a few times and survived. The most recent time required unit dis-assembly and reassembly and then it worked again. I think the ribbon cable to the screen got bumped. This is probably the best $8 I've spent on a toy.

This was the perfect entertainer for a 12 hour vacation drive for my 5 yr old daughter. I even enjoyed playing it. Unfortunately it started eating batteries and died even with trying another new set of batteries and then an ac adapter with no revival. I bought this on QVC for $20 so $50 for less than 4 months of play isn't worth it.

This little handheld game is great for money. Loads of fun. The only negative I have is that the graphics are confusing with the Mario type games. The pixels on the graphics are a little too small making it hard to make out what is going on. On a scale of 1 - 10, I give this game a 7.
