Plasma Sky is a shiny new space shoot-em-up featuring over 80 levels, lots of power-ups, and multiple game modes. It's universal, and there will never be any ads or in app purchases.

There's lots of kinds of enemy ships, and snakes, and your ship powers up and can get different kinds of ammo. There's a regular shield, but also a spike shield that lets you ram enemies. There are bosses! And there's lasers! And you can get wing-men who can power up too! And you and your wing-men can get lasers! And the levels are all different! And there's other stuff! And it barely costs anything!

Look, you need a good game to keep you company on the bus, or while your dinner companion is away, or when you've already done enough and you need a break. This is it. This is that game. This is the game you'll get to make that time awesome.

5.0 out of 5 stars Impressive - I love it! May 25, 2013
Verified Purchase
I must say "WOW" this is Retro game done right! If you love retro graphics especially alien shooters type of games you will find the graphics of this game are superb. Full screen glory with superb speed and agility. In the past I have liked playing Voxel Invaders but this one is even better. I like the colorful neon glow and fluid graphics. The music is done right and so are sound effects. Game-play is a pleasure by simply moving the ship using your fingers on the screen. Love it.

Kudos! to the developer for a Retro game design done right! No questionable permissions. Download it if you love retro games & fast paced graphics you will enjoy this game.

PS: Officially as per Amazon this game will not be compatible on first generation Kindle Fire which simply does not make sense as the developer has clearly mentioned Android OS 1.5 or above should be enough for it to run. Looks like some clerical error on Amazon's part to list this game incompatible with Kindle Fire. Having said, If you are tech savvy you can make this game run on first generation Kindle fire by "side-loading" it. Love playing it even more on original Kindle fire due to it's small size.

Edit June 01,2013 : Still enjoy playing this game!
When a lot of people gave feedback here on Amazon stating that it is not very obvious to find the 'exit' or 'quit' button the developer promptly released an updated version 2.7.0 to address those issues. You will now be able to gracefully exit the game by using Android 'back' button on your device or if you go to the 'main' menu you will find a tiny 'X' or |Pause| if you are playing the game on the top right hand corner of the screen that will also allow to quit or exit the game gracefully. - Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a blast May 26, 2013
Verified Purchase
As an old school gamer, I used to play space invaders, Galaga, Moon Cresta and so on.
This one easily beats all the invader or galaga wannabes.
First of all, it is damn fast.
Next, the enemies are funny - they use chain formations as in galaga and all of a sudden mock you with a classic space invaders formation.
Then there are asteroids - Atari type ones.
Last but not least, I just love direct control - just tap anywhere to direct your ship there OR trace it with your finger.
Destroyed enemies leave powerups to collect.
Unfortunately, there are no save slots, you only can opt for continue when you restart.
By the way, at level sixteen you get a boss. Cerberus is no pushover.
A tip how to kill the boss: move up very close so there isn't anything between you and the Boss.
Keep blasting away.

Tons of fun I say :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good touch space shooter May 26, 2013
By Me

After the style of Life Force, Gradius, Darius Twin, and Raiden, in Plasma Sky you simultaneously dodge oncoming bad guys and their shots while swerving to collect oncoming bonuses and power ups.

On my Galaxy S3, gameplay is perfectly smooth and chaotic, and I felt like if I died it was my fault, not the controls. It is very engaging and doesn't wait long to get difficult.

Great graphics (no these aren't retro graphics, they are simple HD line graphics)
Smooth consistent control, especially if you do touch or direct (I preferred Normal sensitivity touch)
Fast difficulty ramp

Audio permission (I'll manage my own volume, thanks)
Tiny stats and pause button in game, and no support for physical menu or back button, makes for costly pauses. Kind of important for a mobile game.
No explanation of power ups (can be easily learned though)
Heats up phone quickly. Possibly not the most efficient coding ever.

Unavoidable, but your thumb has to cover part of the screen in touch mode, and tilt is never going to be precise enough for this style of game. Mouse or controller support, dev?

Summary : Good with only minor niggles that don't really detract from gameplay.

5.0 out of 5 stars An absolute work of art! May 26, 2013
Verified Purchase
This game is more than just a "tip of the hat to retro shoot-em-ups". It is a work of art in its own right. There's nothing cookie cutter about it and it is absolutely well put together in such a way that it still feels unique even though it is instantly familiar. The graphics are astounding -- especially for a mobile device. The gameplay is fluid and fun; the multiple control options only make it that much better because you can choose your poison. There are enough levels to keep you busy for quite a while. The intensities are there but it never gets annoying. The difficulty is there yet the game never feels unfair. Truly an amazing achievement of programming and good game design. Absolutely 5 stars!

2.0 out of 5 stars Hidden internet requirement in GREAT game... July 8, 2013
Verified Purchase
I thought this game was incredible! My son did too, until we tried playing where we had no Internet connection. Imagine our surprise when it shut down after a minute and said INTERNET REQUIRED. I thought it was a mistake so I tried it at home with my phone in Flight Mode... the same thing happened.

This game doesnt list that it needs Internet connectivity yet somehow it still tries to connect, and requires it to even start! You get two stars only because it was such a great game otherwise. And also for making me realize that some developers are being extra sneaky...

Very reminiscent of Galaga but more varied, faster pacing, and richer graphics. The 80 levels go far too fast but you'll play it over and over.
