5.0 out of 5 stars Best Kid Powered Toy
CONSTRUCTION

This is a unibody plastic construction. The wheels and steering wheel are also hard plastic. The foot rests and seat are contoured to prevent slipping. This ride is light enough for a child to pick up and put away. If you have more than one child, you really need one for each child plus an extra - for adults, like me. I am 190 lbs and I move...

3.0 out of 5 stars plasma car
I bought a plasma car for each of my boys, (ages 6 and 4). They enjoyed them for about an hour. I really thought they would be easier to propel than they are. If you are on any bit of incline it is almost impossible to make the car go without using your feet on the ground. It is fun to find a small hill and coast down, but coming back up is a pain. If you are on any bit of incline it is almost impossible to make the car go without using your feet on the ground. It is fun to find a small hill and coast down, but coming back up is a pain. I have even tried to find really flat pavement and still you are at times practically not moving.

I am 190 lbs and I move rather easily on smooth surfaces.

OPERATION

The operator turns the steering wheel to propel the vehicle forward. Wider turns give more momentum for speed than smaller turns of the wheel. The wheels are smooth so the optimal surface is a floor made of linoleum or smooth concrete. A driveway or street impart a lot of friction and are not an optimal surface for mobility. Carpet has too much drag.

Since this has no form of self propulsion or engine, beyond kid power, it is quiet - with the exception of your child screaming with fun.

In the age of video games and excessive television for entertainment, this is a great outlet for getting kids to use their energy. Ideally, I would say this toy is suitable for kids ages 5 through 12.

CONCLUSION

This is a great toy that is fun, durable and not terribly expensive.

Two thumbs up!

This toy is my favorite thing that we've bought for our two-year old. (He kind of likes it too!) He loves scooting around on it, altho he hasn't completely figured it out yet. He prefers it over his little tricycle, I think since it's closer to the ground and easier to control. Works great on hard indoor surfaces, but not so great on lumpy uneven concrete outdoors.

I am a bit sad. The kids were trying to ride this on a flat new side walk. It wasn't up hill or anything, but they didn't seem to be able to get it going very well. I hope we have better luck tomorrow.

My sons saw this at a friend's house and loved using it. However, once we got it - they really haven't been interested at all! When they did ride it to the park, it was kind of difficult for them to continue to work. My children are 3 and 4 1/2 - I would say I wouldn't purchase again at full price. I would look for a used one.

This is our third "scooter" and we love them. Great for kids and adults. Worth every penny and very durable (except when run over by the car!!). Our 3 and 5 yr-olds love them and we anticipate many years of fun with them.

I first saw these at the Missouri State Fair and thought they looked like fun but didn't buy any. I decided to get them for the grandkids, who are 4 and under, to ride. It was delivered extremely promptly, very easy to assemble (I did it myself), and the kids are having a blast with them. Even safe to use in the house.

We bought the first car as a possible present for the summer in the park's parking lot. After finding someone 6'2" could ride it, we ordered a second. It is a quick, lively toy that is propelled not by the feet, but by twisting the handle side to side. The boys, 7 and 4 have been on them every day unless we have to take the privilege away (and works very effectively as they do not want to lose the use of these cars!). They are sturdy plastic yet light weight so I can take them in the car easily; much better than dealing with heavy bikes and trikes. Inside they have a space about 9x15 to ride in and have races. They work best on wooden or very flat floors, our low carpet can be crossed but they don't get the speed up. I will be buying more to allow friends to ride with them.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just ok, January 9, 2007
This review is from: Green Plasmacar (Toy)
Two friends recommended this toy to me but I must say that my son really hasn't used it much at all since Christmas. I think he just enjoys going really fast on his bike and scooter and this is not a really fast toy. So, I cannot give it a high rating as it has hardly been used. My friends' boys love it though, so I guess it's a hit for some.
