I received this for Christmas. I have never been able to get my planes sharp with the bench-mounted wheel I have. This works great. I sharpened a hand plane and was able to finally get the little shavings I see on woodworking shows. The unit is almost all plastic and seems prety cheaply made, it does do a pretty good job. At around $50 it is a great deal for someone that does not do a great deal of sharpening.

This product is just terrible. The motor is so under powered that the stone stops turning at the slightest contact with the implement being sharpened. The jigs are flimsy to the point of utter uselessness This thing is the biggest joke ever. Anyone who rates it above 2 stars is either a shill or completely out of touch with reality.

this is a piece of pure junk. the plastic jig (for chisels) is not rigid, and therefore flexes. The result is an angle on your chisels that is far from perfect.

Well if you use alot of force ya.. you can stop it but... let the tool do the work and it works great. I love this and give it a 5 star. You need a sharpener cause you break your tools from too much force. be nice to it and it will please you. great for those with a kind touch for their tools

This tool sharpener worked very well for me because of the fixtures included held the tool to be sharpened in the correct angle and produced an excellent result.

I received this item in very good condition, in a very good time. However, the shipment did not include an owner's manual, which makes it difficult for me to use the item to it's fullest potential. Pleas advise me how I can purchase an owner's manual.

I have had a Plasplugs sharpener for a couple of years now and find that it works well. I sharpen mostly knives (sometimes drill bits) and as long as you treat it as a sharpener, not a grinding wheel, it is highly effective. If you are too heavy handed, you can stop the wheel, but I can do that with my 1/2 horsepower bench grinder, too.

The guides help keep the angles correct, and make all the difference in getting knives really sharp.

BUT THE ORIGINAL WAS A LITTLE BETTER IN QUALITY.

The guides are useless. How can you get a precision edge on a tool when your sharpening tool has no precision? And underpowered. Try something else.
