I enjoyed reading this book, it gave a fun and interesting introduction to the world of lo-fi photography and the cameras used. It gives great tips and tricks when using certain plastic cameras (since they all seem to have their little quirks). The author also includes examples from photographers who specialize in lo-fi--it made it easy to find further information on them/their work. At the end of the book there is an entire section devoted to product websites, flickr groups and blogs--handy info. to begin one's investigation into the world of plastic cameras.

Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I originally ordered this as a gift for a friend that loves her Holga camera collection. However after reading it from cover to cover, I am keeping it for myself and looking into getting some toy cameras to play with.

This book has a wealth of info on everything you could possibly want to know about taking great art photography with a toy camera. Very well written, beautifully illustrated and just a joy to read whether you want to take photos or just enjoy looking at them.

Toy Camera photography seems to be a very inexpensive hobby! Considering that a Holga camera is around $20.00 with the film easily available, why wouldn't anyone want to have a little creative fun with it! Also, the author discusses how anyone can develop their own film right at home! No need to run to Walgreens and wait for your photos!

Overall a really top notch book for anyone interested in toy camera photography.

Format:Paperback|Amazon Vine™ Review (What's this?)
I ate this book up metaphorically the moment I received it. Writen with an intellegent text and illustrated by some of the most adept and creative artists working in and with this medium, it was a joy and a single reading was not enough either.

It is very easy to feel jaded with all the new digital breakthoughs in photography and hyper-realism but what this book hands you is the heart as well as the head of what creating arresting images is all about. Athough a Child can and should try this;in the hands of inspired photographers with a prehensile understanding of the relationship between light, film and the lens ,works of haunting beauty and even humor can be created.

I have been using the Diana and Holga for years to balance out the inflated claims of hyper-real photography and this book is a treasure for someone like me, and a wonderrful resource.
The artists' whose work is chosen as the litmus test of the capabilities of a plastic lens camera are varied and all have something to show in their work.
This is a must have book for any photographer, artist or lover of pictures.
