Good for One-Shot,
This review is from: Plastic Dip Intl. 11603-6 Plasti-Dip (Misc.)
The previous poster hit on the problem, though did not address it fully. The problem I found was that the snap-on lid provided to "seal" the can after initial use did not fully seal the can which, after some time, allowed the remaining contents to become unusable. Therefore, it becomes a one-shot use item. So, if you buy this, get all the tools you want to use it on together and do them all at one time.

What I did was use Saran Wrap between the cheap lid and the can. That worked for a long time and kept it liquid. Otherwise, works very nice.

Wonderful stuff. See uploaded pictures,

Half a can covered 10 pairs of pliers with 6-8 coats each. The coated areas smell "chemical" for a couple of days. Then the smell disappears completely. It's best to cover longest handles first, as the level in the can will go down with use. For good results dip slowly and lift slowly, recommended pace is 1 inch per 5 seconds each way. The result is "professional" looking and the new skins are tough to break.
The vapors have nasty intense odor, so make sure to use good ventilation or work outdoors. When finished, I used aluminum foil secured around with masking tape to re-seal the can. The can is completely sealed when you can't smell any vapors around the lid the next day. Like others indicated, the original plastic lid is not airtight and it will not prevent the liquid from solidifying over time. See the dipping in action on my uploaded "customer images".

Well, Plasti-dip itself is good stuff. I've used it (as ordered here) on a few tools around the home.
One problem: the can is opened with a metal pull-top like many soup cans these days. There is a plastic lid to use once the nonreplaceable pulltop has been removed, but it is fairly loose fitting. I tape it down with duct tape, since I can only imagine the mess I'd have on my hands if this thing spilled or leaked!

Plastic Dip Intl. 11603-6 Plasti-Dip
I ordered two cans of Plastic Dip, one red and one yellow, from AF Lock and Hardware in Brooklyn NY. I received one red and one black. The products were immediately shipped out and received within a week. I already had a can of Plastic Dip, black, that I purchased locally; it works great, so good that I ordered two more colors. Now here's the rub. There is virtually no way to determine what color you are ordering, save for a few which are listed. When I called to enquire how to order a can of yellow the guy at customer service did look up the stock number for me. When I tried to order a can, he told me to order it on-line, even though one of the options when I called the company was 'sales'. He offered no apology for my troubles, no offer to exchange the miss-sent can, and no offer of free postage for the newly ordered can. I can only hope that the can that I ordered was the correct color; oh and to make matters worse, the stock number that he gave me did not correlate with any of the numbers shown on Amazon. My advice is to look locally for your Plastic Dip. Unfortunately the only color that my local Lowes store carried was black.

Colors...,

OK, here's the deal with Plasti-Dip. I found this on another website, and went through the colors one by one to develop the below table. Colors are identified by the digits just before the dash. So:11601-6 = RED 11602-6 = YELLOW 11603-6 = BLACK 11604-6 = BLUE 11607-6 = WHITE 11609-6 = CLEAR It took a little while to figure out the pattern. These part numbers are for the 14.5 fl oz dip, but the other types use the same two digit code (01-09) for the colors, and the other numbers change for the type (aerosol, etceteras).

I was wondering if i was wasting my money when I ordered Plasti-dip, but it works well. It is easy and near fool proof. A couple of tips would be to move slow. Dip slow, extract slow. Start with a good clean surface and don't try to push the drying time. Again, be slow; with patience the results are great. Take extra care in sealing your partial can. If air gets to it it will start to harden. I found a bit of grease inside the rim of the plastic lid makes an effective seal and keeps my product ready for long periods.

This is great stuff. I use it to dip the end of ropes in it and it shrinks up and makes a real tight end that will stay put.

Lid sucks! Product has many uses and works great!,

I have used this for many things but my 2 favorite things are:
1. I mix this with thinner and used it to sray on custom sub enclosures to increase durability and provide an airtight seal. Not to mention it gives a nice look that matches most interiors. 2. I slap this stuff on my IronClad work gloves to extend the life of them since I do a lot of wood work. Side Note: Mix with thinner until its almost as fluid as water to get the best coat. More than one coat is necessary. One tube will go a long way as well. Will continue to purchase this product!

Didn't work for me,

Purchased this item after reading other reviews. I tried to coat the handles of a pair of aluminum fishing pliers and found it did a very poor job. I followed instructions about slowly lowering and lifting item from container. They came out very heavily coated on bottom and not coated at all on the top portion. Very disappointed. Possibly the surface smoothness or aluminum was the problem.
