Yet another automatic counter-hogging coffee maker died on me, so I delved in the recesses of my pantry for my old plastic filter cone. Not there. Disappeared in a fit of decluttering that had possessed me a few years back. No problem. I'd go to Starbucks or Alterra and replace it. Problem: Only a few small, fancy porcelain cones were on display. No problem. I'd go to Target or Walmart and replace it. Problem: No such object exists in these stores and clerks didn't even know what I was talking about. I discovered that I was seeking the dodo bird of coffee making. No problem. I turned to Amazon and three days later I was dripping water through a serviceable brown filter cone with a stable base wide enough to fit on a pot and small enough to drip into a solid cup, enjoying the whistling of my teakettle and the whole process of inserting the #4 paper filter--a perfect fit--and deciding which coffee would best fit the mood of the day. Now I am sitting here at my laptop with a strong cup of coffee close by, thinking how happy I am to have acquired this low tech plastic filter cone coffee maker.

I needed a coffee cone large enough for my #4 filter and tall large-mouthed Fiestaware cappucino mug. This is perfect. Good quality plastic, arrived very quickly.

Bought this for my gf to use as a single drip, over-the-mug coffee maker. Bought the bigger size to have more room for the boiling water, but the water flows through pretty quickly so the smaller size probably would have worked. She really likes it. The one cup she made for me was weak but she used very little coffee and poured the water quickly. the strength of the coffee seems relatively easy to adjust. you can add more grounds or pour the boiling water more slowly to get stronger coffee. Overall a great product, and very inexpensive. wish I had bought 2 because the actual price is low but shipping more than doubles it.

How much is too much? Sometimes less truly is more. I searched for a replacement #4 cone filter cup in average grocery aisles and the big box stores... they were never seen. Unbleached paper filters, yes... plastic cones, no.
Retired on a shoestring and now enjoying the Good Life on my passive-solar wilderness homestead, I've arrived full circle back to the plastic cone w/ filters and a carafe or thermos. I can boil water in a solar oven or on the woodstove if push comes to shove. Easy, delicious coffee. Minimal footprint. Simplify. No longer could I justify the awkward large footprint of an electric drip machine or another gorgeous press cafetiere with little parts/glass guaranteed to go south, whether from inherent flaws, natural disasters or curious cats. Yes, there are upscale steel cafetieres promising FOREVER.... and I simply can't afford them anymore. But, daily good coffee is a MUST-HAVE and I knew the old cone system would work for me here in the outback just as it did in the late 60s as a young art student. Finding this particular #4 cone via Amazon.com at a sensible price was a relief. I flipped the inner coin and just ordered it. Receiving the little box quickly via USPS and with a kind note from the store owner was a boon. However, when I test-dripped my cheerful red Randwyck plastic cup, made in Holland, it was WIN! :) Yummy. The cone cup is made well, works well and has already earned its purchase. It easily works with a 1970s pyrex decanter, a mason jar or a wide-mouth thermos. Note: I understood there was no choice of colour where I ordered; but, the Euro red was a very pleasant surprise. PS: I add the used coffeegrinds and papers to the garden compost. All good.

This cone fits most of the mugs I've tried it with. I wanted to brew directly into my 16oz NALGENE Tritan Wide Mouth BPA-Free Water Bottle, so I cut tiny 1/8" notches in the bottom of this using a steak knife, now it works perfectly on my mugs and on my nalgene!

Works great. Use it as a personal coffee brew at work, pour hot water over the grounded coffee and get fresh made coffee by the cup!

I have tried to find a plastic filter cone like the one I gave to my son and thought this would be similar. I like the #4 size rather than the smaller size for single cups of coffee because it is also usable to make multiple cups, so I don't need more than one size. This particular brand has 2 problems. The bottom cross pieces are too large for many cups, so it sort of balances on top of the cup instead of sitting down in the cup. Second thing is that this cone has 2 large holes in the bottom so the hot water/coffee runs through very fast--my previous cone had a single smaller cone and retained the hot water longer on the grounds. This cone works okay, but if I had seen it in person I might not have purchased this exact model. On the other hand, it does work, and it was the least expensive one that I found, as shipping on 2 (I got a second one as a gift for a relative) of them was much cheaper than shipping from other sellers.

how I make my cold brew
What I do is use a 2 Quart Ziploc Twist N Loc Medium Container it's 4 cups. Ziploc Twist 'N Loc , Medium Round, Containers & Lids, 2-Count (Pack of 2) 1) 1/2 cup of ground coffee 3 cups of water room temperature water, not heated or cooled. Gently stir to insure that all the grounds are wet. I use a wisk carefully. With the Ziploc I just Shake it! 2) I strain it through A coffee marker NOT turned ON unless you have some other way to stain it. I just didn't want to buy a Toddy. This is what I usePlastic Filter Cone #4 Large coffee maker (colors may vary) 3) Cover the container and let sit out on the kitchen counter for twelve hours up to twenty-four. The longer you let it sit the stronger it will be. 4) Put the coffee "liqueur" in the fridge . Add milk or soy milk or...to the delicious brew you have made and ENJOY! 4b) I heat a cup in the microwave or one can boil water and pour the coffee liqueur ~1/4 cup or however strong you want it and pour in ~ 5oz of water I love it Without "Sweetener or "cream"

This little pour over drip Plastic Filter Cone makes a quick, and very tasty cup of coffee. I still like the flavor of my french press coffee best, but this is quicker, and comes in very handy. It fits almost any size cup, and is unbreakable. Not as lovely as some of the glass filters I have seen, but for an inexpensive, and unbreakable product it was a good buy, and does a good job.
