Product Description

This will sit on a mug. The inside funnel is 2" with the total diameter of 4.5" It allows you to make an individual mug of coffee. Place a #2 cone filter inside the 'v' and gently pour hot (195 degree) water over the grounds to moisten them, wait 30 seconds to allow the ground to 'bloom' then pour more water over the grounds to finish the brewing cycle. Use only enough water to fill the mug. Relax and enjoy

Customer Questions & Answers

Customer Reviews

It works very well and cleans wonderfully in plain water.
Art
It sits on top of most coffee mugs and fits the #2 filter nicely but could probably make a #4 fit in an emergency.
Evan Machnic
Also, the holes are way too big and the coffee drains too quickly, making a far less tasting cup of coffee.

I have had one of these single-cup coffee drip dispensers for a long time. It uses a standard #2 paper filter, but I use #4 filters instead, since they are cheaper (but the #4 filter will stick up a bit past the top edge of this cone). It is still going strong after almost ten years, and I wash it every month or so on the top rack of my dishwasher.

I decided to get another one, since it is hard to find good functional products like this anymore. It has FOUR holes in the bottom that allow for quick, even draining of the water after you pour it over the grounds. I use about 20 to 30 grams of ground coffee to make a 12 to 18 ounce cup of coffee. I have used both store-bought ground coffee (in the past) and now fresh ground coffee (I grind the beans finely, so the 4 holes on the bottom help keep the water flowing through properly).

This cone will fit on top of large and small cups alike: the outer diameter of the base is 4.75 inches, which means it will fit quite comfortably on a cup that has a top diameter of 4.5 inches, and the inside diameter (where the coffee seeps through) is only 2 inches in diameter, which means it will fit on *any* cup with a top diameter between 2.25 inches and 4.5 inches. The base, excepting the 4 holes, is solid, so VERY LITTLE HEAT ESCAPES from your cup while the cone is on top of it and the water is still seeping through.

Recently, I visited Blue Bottle coffee shop in Brooklyn, the lastest coffee extravaganza from San Francisco, and realized that they have some really good tasting coffee. I was intrigued that they didn't use the regular filter machines like other less-snobby coffee places. Instead, they used the pour-over technique that in their own words intensifies the flavor of the coffee and lets you enjoy your cup of joe. Amazingly, they did not lie, and I immediately wanted to switch from regular filter to pour-over. Of course, they were ready to help, and wanted to sell me their porcelain filter cone for a great price of just under $30. Since money is not found on streets these days, plan B was to go to Amazon and see if it would be possible to buy something that is priced for normal people who are not posh Brooklynites.

The answer is in front of you, this little piece of plastic magic combined with good quality coffee and constantly boiling water on your stove will return your faith in
good coffee. The cone is good for two cups of coffee, so it will probably serve well most of the households.

Filter had about 4 holes and coffee comes out too fast for me. I prefer the Melitta filter in stead

To save some money, I chose to use paper cone other than a coffee machine. This one is cheap and serves its purpose. The reason I gave it four stars is because it doesn't stand stably on my coffee/tea mug, which has a large opening. So be careful if you like large mugs as I do.

Works like a charm! Perfect for that fresh brewed cup of coffee without having to go out and purchase a more expensive large machine!

I purchased this item on a whim and have been so pleased. The Melitta coffee maker makes a fast easy mug of coffee that tastes better than anything I've ever made at home. By the time the water finishes going through the coffee and the filter, it is the perfect temperature for drinking. Clean-up is fast and easy, too: just dump the filter and rinse the little coffee maker. And it is small, too; I like not having another electrical appliance cluttering up my kitchen counters.

Fast, cheap, easy, and delicious...everything I was looking for in a coffee maker!

Purchased for myself but gave to a friend who loved it. Not just because it is functional but because of the vibrant and robust red color of the cone that produced a good cup of coffee.

This is a bit too large for the Melitta #2 filters. Instead of one hole it has several, which makes coffee quicker, but weaker. Couldn't use for a small mouthed cup or thermos. It's okay, but liked my Melitta better.
