Book Description

What does a man do when he has been jilted by his Las Vegas bride? Fly home to lick his wounds? Or become embroiled in a defunct American cult, and travel to Hong Kong with them, into the murky criminal underworld? The latter, of course!

Mix in an obese lunatic with a penchant for jellies, and a ventriloquist with a nervous disposition, and soon the walls of sanity begin to slip.

Yes, there are consequences even for those who wish to be nothing more than passengers in the modern screwed up world.

3.0 out of 5 stars Drug-filled Directionless Drifting March 15, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This yarn is written in the first person, narrated by a man whose name we don't learn for much of the book. He is a Brit and begins drifting in Las Vegas where he gets married only to find that his bride has disappeared the next day, becomes involved with a ventriloquist and dancer at a local theater, who lead him to a cult...then on to Myanmar and Hong Kong.
There is very little plot. The tale is personality-driven with a narrator who is nearly always stoned or drunk or both, and who often cannot tell the difference between reality and the tricks of his abused brain.
Though the book reads well, calling it an "adventure" is a bit of a stretch. Do not expect a fast read, but it is interesting if often blurred and dazed.
