Like many bakers, I enjoy baking a King's cake prior to Lent. These little babies are a low cost way to finish off the cake. Hiding the babies inside is traditional, and these babies stand up well inside the cake. They are tiny, but can take the heat of the oven; they remain intact. You can spend more money for fancier babies, but why? The object of a King's cake is to provide the ones who eat it an opportunity to find the baby, and these do just fine. So, try making a King cake if you have never done so, and use these adorable babies in your recipe. You won't be disappointed.
