I enjoy good electronica as much as the next person, but listening to this album was a painful experience. What a way to ruin perfectly good songs! Besides, do we really need a different version of "Fitter Happier"?

Even if you are a die-hard Radiohead fan (which I am), you should stay away from this CD, especially if you didn't really care for Kid A (which I did). On second thought, you should stay away from this IF you're a Radiohead fan! Only tracks that are even remotely tolerable are Creep, Climbing the Wall and Fake Plastic Trees.

Pretty please, with sugar on top, don't just buy this because they are Radiohead covers. Do yourself a favor and listen to the samples first. You'll thank me later.

It's utterly awful. On the plus side some are so bad (especially some of the singing, oh boy) that they're quite funny. Until you remember you just paid actual cash for this. Feck.

This CD contains electronic versions of many radiohead songs. If you consider buying it, remember not to expect Radiohead-like versions of Radiohead songs. THAT WOULDN'T MAKE SENSE. many reviewers complain that "it doesn't sound like radiohead" WELL OF COURSE NOT! IT'S NOT RADIOHEAD! If I want to listen to Radiohead-like songs,, I'd buy Radiohead albums!!! I think it is an awesome album, then again, I like both radiohead and electronic music. I like all of the tracks, specially Paranoid Android, the beat fits the song perfectly. The slow creep version makes you look at the song from a different point of view. Fake plastic trees with female vocals adds an angelical touch to the song. The moog-bassed version of Climbing up the walls is another of the great tracks of the cd. All in all... If you like the last couple of radiohead albums, I don't see why you wouldn't like Plastic Mutations. I highly reccomend it. Listen to the samples so you understand what I mean!!

This has to be one of the worst "tribute" albums I have ever purchased. Most of it consists of instrumental dance tracks. How disturbing is it to take the songs of one of today's most gifted songwriters and then desecrate them by just playing a few pad sweeps over an out-of-the-box trance beat, whilst engaging in realtime tweaking of one's own sampled voice? Nonsense.

This album is as a good a reason as any to place tighter restrictions on the sale of electronic musical equipment. One should be required to demonstrate a modicum of musical taste before being allowed to leave the store with sequencing software and a sound module. The only song worth listening to on this compilation is possibly the "Fake Plastic Trees" cover. The worst track on this album (of the many terrible ones) is the "Everything In Its Right Place" cover. Please. Give me a break. . . .

This CD is aurally repugnant. Each time I listen to it I dislike it more and more. I love Radiohead and I dig electronic music, so I figured this CD would be great. The idea has potential, electronic remixes of Radiohead's infinitely remixable music, but flops. Poorly done. Hard to listen to. Some of the synths sound like an 8-bit Nintendo system when it freezes up. Great soundtrack for a headache. I could go on and on. Please don't support the profanation of Radiohead with this audio ...!

its a tribute album. as such, it represents the attempts of other artists to capture the spirit and essence of someone elses' songs and add a creative twist. however, it falls flat on its face. everything that made the originals so enjoyable to me has been removed. these remixes are laughable imitations of some of the greatest songs pressed onto a cd.

the lyrics are often wrong, most notably on paranoid android. sigman's vocals are tragic, and his rendition of the original's acoustic intro is quite sad.

another low point: everything in its right place. the warm tones of the original are replaced with stock synthesizers and cut up computer speech, completely robing the song of its twistedly human feel. idioteque, in a way, is perfect. it captures the meaning of the song's title, yet shares nothing in common with the original (one of my favorite songs off of kid a). its a bland dance mix and that's about it.

radiohead crafted these songs, and their respective albums with amazing attention to detail. every sound was right where it was supposed to be. had this album not been a tribute, it might have been bareable. it's title "plastic mutations" is quite striking, as the entire album reeks of sterilization. if you've never heard these radiohead songs before, and you like cookie-cutter electronica, you might enjoy this album. however, the cheesy synths, the overly computerized vocals, and the forgettable drum machine beats make this render this "tribute" little more than an unlistenable pile of poop.

... I found the entire CD painful. This isnt a tribute ... And even I who loves everything that Radiohead has ever put out, figured I would give it a try. I thought since they had such good material to work with they couldnt possibly destroy it...

It's a shame that there were no better electronic artists to craft what has, in principle, such great potential for brilliance. Remixes of Radiohead? It could be wonderous---but it flounders miserably under the hands of half-baked excuses for electronic musicians with little musical or lyrical talent. Please, if you are unfamiliar with the realm of electronic, don't judge the genre by this tragic representation. (For examples of better remixes, try Plaid remixing Bjork, or Underworld remixing whatever)

An attempt to electrify Radiohead is like trying to add weight to Shaquile O'Neal. The blend of mind drilling beats laid over sped up lyrics and distorted chord progressions destroys the overall purpose of the music. Even open minded Radiohead fans will listen to this and cringe... How can you take music that is deeply entrenched in worthwhile lyrics, soul, blues, and emotion and attempt to fit it into a dance club sound. If you want this sound, get a Radiohead RECORD and play it on double speed while banging a few pots and pans--at least the experience will involve the listener this way, rather than lulling them to sleep with miserable clubed out vocals.

BEWARE this CD stinks.

I bought this used at a local independent record store. It ruins all of the musical brilliance that radiohead have created and crushes all of the god-given talent that Thom Yorke and his posse have shared with the world. No, it's not supposed to be radiohead, but it is a quick buck for the record companies. Dont dive into temptation.
