The difference is in the way that the lining is put on to the sleeves. Traditionally, 12" polylined sleeves use a gluing process. When the sleeves are glued, there is always a visible glue lining on the inside of the sleeve and down both sides along the edge - sometimes it's subtle, sometimes it's really obvious. If the sleeves aren't glued up high enough, then the record can get caught between the paper and the plastic, ripping the sleeve. The plastic is glued on one side and all along the top edge. The side gluing does not make a complete bag, but one that is opened on the glued side, creating a path for paper dust from the paper sleeve. If the plastic isn't glued down inside the entire sleeve, then the plastic can get caught and pulled out with the record.
Square Deal's premium sleeves are made by laminating the paper with the plastic before the sleeves are folded. While it looks like only the window is covered by the plastic, the plastic is actually it's own layer that's laminated onto the paper. This creates a glueless and seamless, pristine sleeve that offers the same better protection without any of the downsides that can happen with a traditional polylined sleeve.
**WARNING: The first use of these sleeves, you will notice a slight tack to the outside center window. This tack will disappear after the first time you remove the sleeve from the record jacket.**

These are pretty heavy duty poly lined record sleeves. No, they're not archival grade but you're not paying $1.50-$2.00 apiece either. If you want archival grade, buy archival grade, but don't take someone to task for not selling (or advertising them as) archival grade. For $.55 to $.60 each, these are good value for your money and they do an excellent job.
When It comes to caring for my records, I am pretty picky. These certainly passed my test.
I will be very happy to order another batch when I finish this one (about 15 left).
Let me first state that I had purchased hundreds of these about 5 or 6 years ago and they were great. I was impressed. When it came time get some more, naturally I came back. Now, I did read some of the recent reviews before purchasing and thought to myself that they must've just received a bad batch or two. For all of those reading this now let me tell you, they were being kind.
The package I received today was essentially a large lump of paper and plastic. All of the sleeves were, well they weren't really sleeves, it was more like one long sheet as most weren't cut. Additionally the plastic centers were all stuck to one another. You couldn't even separate them at first and when you were finally able literally rip them apart, you see that the end of the first sleeve was never cut from the 2nd, the 2nd was never cut from the 3rd and, well, you get the point. If that weren't enough, they were all different sizes! I measured some in the string of sleeves (imagine from when you were a kid folding paper several times and cutting holes into it with a pair of scissors. Taking these sleeves out of the package was a lot like unfolding that piece of paper) and you had some that were under 11" and others that were almost 15".
Horrible, just deplorable to think someone somewhere looked at these and said, 'yep, these are good to go'. Completely unacceptable.
I have requested a full refund and will never even consider buying again. I highly suggest anyone reading this do the same.
Update: Returned the items via Amazon and received a full refund.
I decided to redo my computer room and cover the walls with LP album covers from the late 60's - early 80's. As I started picking up more and more covers my son (thanks son) said "you know it's a waste that you have all of these albums that's going to be stuck on the wall and never listened to. You know the sound quality of albums far outshines the CD's (true or not I don't know, but I fell for it hook, line, and a Audio Technica AT-LP2DUSB LP-to-Digital Recording System with USB and a Logitech S220 2.1 Speaker System). At any rate, now with these plastic lined paper inner sleeves I can put the albums in them to listen to and put the LP covers with thier original inner sleeves on the wall.
Now for my review. While they will probably serve to keep lint and dust off the LP's, they are a gnats hair from covering the LP on one side of the lip and about 5/16" shy of covering the LP on the other lip. It doesn't make alot of sence to me, why they are so short (perhaps to save 3 forests in Brazil, I don't know) ?? As previously mentioned they are wavy as opposed to flat, which is not as distracting as the shortness of the open end. They were shipped fast so that is a Plus, but if I need any more in the future I'll look for another product. Hope that helps someone.
