This is an excellent CD. He uses his voice better than his previous work, and the music is also done much better. Great German music. Not to mention he does a song with Nina Hagen, which can only be a plus.

Looking for Hard Core German Industrial?,

If you're looking for hard core German Industrial Music, this is it! The new album from Oomph! is like nothing they've put out before. It's harder, faster, more industrial like beats, it's too great to pass up. You'll have to hear it for yourself, to believe it!

Well done!,

Oomph! are clearly one of the more talented acts in the industrial metal scene (which can include, but is not limited to, everything from Rammstein to Fear Factory). With 1999's Plastik, we saw them break into somewhat of a commercial status - and while many 'fans' may not be appreciative of this, I for one think the band managed to tackle their success quite nicely. Dero's vocals are in top-notch form (just listen to the chorus of "Scorn" and tell me you don't feel chills down your spine!). The rest of the music sounds great too, but as I've said before, and as I will say again, Dero is what sets this band from the rest of the industrial-metal genre. His voice has a baritone quality to it, but isn't quite as deep as Till Lindemann's (Rammstein). I'd almost goes as far as to say it bears certain resemblance to that of Depeche Mode's David Gahan. Comparisons aside, he is a great singer, and that seems to be a difficult quality to come by these days.
In terms of songs themselves, my favorites would be the stunning "Das Weisse Licht", the aforementioned mid-tempo "Scorn", the headbanging "Goldenes Herz", and the one you've all been waiting for, "Fieber" featuring Ms. Nina Hagen. While I'm not too big a fan of Nina's, I was pleasantly surprised to hear her on this song, and just as with her recent collaboration with Apocalyptica, she seems to be branching out of her usual punk-diva stylings. The song itself has a great dancebeat quality to it, and is probably one of few rock/metal songs I'd ever want to hear on a dancefloor. Unrelatedly, around the time Plastik was released, Dero had mentioned something about wanting to collaborate with ex-Skunk Anansie singer Skin, who at the time was busy recording a song with Sevendust. Perhaps she would have appeared on here otherwise? Back on topic, I'd say overall this is a great album. Sure, it has a couple weak songs, and I don't think it lives up to its successor Ego (nu-metal crossovers aside), but it finely represents its genre as a whole. Industrial metal will thrive as long as these guys remain, which hopefully will be for a long time!

This review may be a little biased, as I love 98% of all of Oomph!'s music, but I'll do my best to stay objective.
if you are an Oomph! fan its worth the buy. If you aren't an Oomph! fan and you love industrial metal, this is worth the buy. There are 13 awesome tracks, all of which I will go over. 1.Das weisse Licht (This song was their first single release for the album. It has a wonderful industrial sound to it. It starts out generally soft, and goes into a more melodic, dark tone, then shifts to hard singing. The singing is deep, and very beautiful, Dero shifts from Singing to Growling very seamlessly. The synthesized guitars in the background make for a very cold atmosphere. If you haven't seen it already, the music video for this song is superb. Check it you on youtube because you are really missing out) 2.Kennst du mich? (once again its the singing in conjunction with the cold atmosphere that brings this song to a higher level. The beat has a bit of an interesting twist to it, and there aren't as many guitar riffs as in their other albums) 3.Scorn (The lyrics in this song are very dark, very cool. I love the composition of the song as a whole, and the singing, the shout support in the chorus makes it more leveled.) 4.Keine Luft mehr (For some reason the singing in the beginning just doesn't quite make it. It only starts getting good when it trasitions to a different verse, the drums are steady and really great, and the guitars have an interesting sound) 5.Hunger (5 stars, great song) 6.Nothing is real (I feel that this song has an epic atmosphere. Just because of the bass sounding singing and the constant drum beat, as well as the really cool guitars.) 7.Mein Traum (Great song, don't have much else to say) 8.Always (I think the singer stresses the "R" a little too much in the beginning, makes it sound weird, but after that the song takes off and sounds wonderful, very sad lyrics) 9.Goldenes Herz (this short is epic. The singer has a truly ominous laugh at the end. And the lyrics are about a man who thinks that he is god.) 10.I come alive (5 stars) 11.Fieber (feat. Nina Hagen) (Nina Hagen makes an appearance with these guys in this song. The duet with Dero is wonderful, they both have deep voices, and their singing is great. The composition of the song is strong, and the chorus is very cool) 12.My own private prison (Definately one of the best songs on this album. It constantly has an ominous and eerie atmosphere to it with the background synthesizing and the precussion. Then when the guitar riffs come in with the chorus it gets even better) 13.Das weisse Licht (refraction) (Re-mix of the first song on this album, its very good in terms of re-mixes.) Hope you found this review helpful for your purchasing consideration. Check these guys out its worth it.
