5.0 out of 5 stars worth its weight
These simple add-on weights are perfect for the bodybuilder who likes to fine tune his weight increments bit by bit instead of overloading with another whole plate that's too much of an increase. The magnets that hold the plates on are very strong, so there's no slippage and the weights are accurate. It's a good idea and an honest product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Works, but could definitely use improvement
The hole is not large enough to fit on an Olympic bar. You have to use the magnets to attach them to other weights, however, they do not stick well to rubber coated Olympic weights, like the VTX series. I have to attach them to the bar itself. That works OK, but they really should just make the hole about 1/4" bigger to let them slide onto the bar.

I am a personal trainer with my own studio. These magnets are perfect for the increments between on my dumbells that are 5 pounds apart. For some exercises 5 pounds is a big jump. These magnets simply add 1.25 pounds on each end of a dumbell for a total of 2.5 lbs. I got 2 pairs one pair for each dumbell. Now I have twice as many weights to choose from. The magnets can hold a 20 pound dumbell for a second. They do not work very well on plastic coated weights. They work well on selectorized weight machines. It shows on the box that it works on olympic bars but they do not fit. The hole is too small just like other reviews said. I would not use these on olympic bars anyways they cost too much for that. If that is what you want just get 1.25 pound plates.

I was hoping the hole was large enough to slide over an olympic bar collar but it doesn't. It also only sticks to the full metal dumbbells not the ones with any vinyl covering. It you only need them to adhere to the metal dumbbells with a large flat surface they will serve your purpose fine.

This is a great product. I use them with my power blocks. They have very strong magnets so there is no movement or shift of the weights. When you are at the top of the weight you can lift in a certain rep-range, these are a smart way to bump up to the next level and keep the progress coming. I highly recommend them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed, September 21, 2011

I just needed an in-between weight instead of jumping up five pounds each time I added more. These worked perfectly for my dumbbells and plates. Like others, I'm not sure why they didn't make the hole a tad bigger to fit Universal bars, but nonetheless it works hanging off of the bottom of the plate. Strong magnetic grip is appreciated to make me feel safe!

5.0 out of 5 stars Exactly what it looks like, May 4, 2011

Ever go to the gym and notice how weights jump 5-10-15 pounds? How can you lift just a little bit more this week? These are the answer! They are magnetic, so stick to the weight or bar directly and you control exactly what you are lifting (assuming not covered with plastic). I'd recommend this product for any level of weight training.
