4.0 out of 5 stars Platemates are great mates for the gym but not your wallet
How can you go wrong with this one. These things work great for those that need to increase in small increments during their workout routine. My only regret is that I didn't come up with this idea or I'd be a billionaire. Platemates must surely be enforcing their patent on these rascals because it appears that they are the only company making these things (do a google...

2.0 out of 5 stars Good concept, poor execution
Despite what the description claims, these do not fit on olympic bars. A good idea, but why is the hole half an inch too small?

How can you go wrong with this one. These things work great for those that need to increase in small increments during their workout routine. My only regret is that I didn't come up with this idea or I'd be a billionaire. Platemates must surely be enforcing their patent on these rascals because it appears that they are the only company making these things (do a google search). Unfortunately, it seems with that monopoly comes a ridiculous price tag for a little bit of metal and magnets. Which by the way are super strong. You're gonna get a workout just pulling them apart once you get them out of the box. So, in summary: Great product. Very useful. Ridiculous cost for something so small and seemingly easy to construct. ( I thought I was getting two pair for the price I paid. Only in America. ) Thanks for reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extra weight..., July 28, 2010
This review is from: Platemates Donut Pair, 1.25 Lbs. each (Sports)
I lift weights at a moderate level and couldn't jump from 25lb. dumbells to 30. I bought these as a nice alternative and find them very helpful. I use them on the adjustable dumbbells I have as well as the singles, and they are heavy duty magnets so I don't worry that they will slide around or fall off. They also are not too large that they get in the way of my lifting.
