4.0 out of 5 stars Best Eddie Rabbitt compilation currently available
I bought this CD recently and I must say that I'm quite pleased with it. Granted there are a few major hits missing like "Step By Step", "You And I" (duet with Crystal Gayle) and "Someone Could Lose A Heart Tonight" but it's probably the most comprehensive Eddie Rabbit "best of" compilation available in the market at the moment and the sound quality is quite good too...

Rabbitt recorded under various labels and until someone manages to untangle all the contractual issues, don't expect to find a complete Eddie Rabbitt hits compilation anytime soon! By the way this CD is issued by Rhino in collaboration with Warner Music U.K. Ltd.

5.0 out of 5 stars Eddie Rabbitt at his best, March 1, 2007

I've been waiting quite a while for a compilation of Eddie Rabbitt songs to come along. Most of what has been out there has been his "crossover" music, and those of us with true Rabbitt ears knows that the crossover songs are his weakest. This is a great collection of his best and a long time in coming. It's recorded well too. The one song I'm sorry isn't on here? "Long Gone". But all in all they caught all the others, and some are a bit obscure so it's great they included them. A must for any Eddie Rabbitt fan!

4.0 out of 5 stars ALMOST...Platinum, March 24, 2007

Of course you can never please EVERYBODY with "best of" collections.
And this IS a darn good collection. HOWEVER,...

It would have been perfection to have included the following songs:

1) I'M A LITTE BIT LONESOME

2) I DON'T WANNA MAKE LOVE (with anyone else but you)

(if this song does'nt get you in "the mood" ..you're clinically dead)

3) THE ROOM AT THE TOP OF THE STAIRS (ditto)

This would have made it KILLER Platinum! But I give credit for at least finally putting more of Eddie's great songs out there on CD. It's about time. Now a double- CD GOLD collection would be nice too!
(I know,..we're just never satisfied!)

5.0 out of 5 stars Research shows, THIS is the place to start -- for a collection of RABBITT HITS !, May 9, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Platinum Collection (Audio CD)
After research to purchase most of Rabbitt's hits, I found this is the place to start.
There doesn't seem to be a good compilation of his hits at this time,
it takes four c.d.'s to get the most of them.
That combination will give you 35 of his 43 charted singles.

Eddie Rabbitt was a driving fource for country music.
A remarkable thirty-four of his forty-three charted songs were top ten hits,
with five others making the top forty.
He was an artist that brought many into the fold of country music with his fresh smooth style,
and the fourteen songs that were "crossovers" on pop radio.
Fore fifteen years he continually topped the charts.

The four c.d.'s in chronological order of the hits they provide are:
1. "The platinum collection". 2006 Warner Platinum. = 14 top ten hits. (this c.d.)
2. "10 Best Series, Eddie Rabbitt's greatest hits".
1995 Cema special markets. = 8 top ten hits.
3. "The greatest hits of Eddie Rabbitt", 1989 B.M.G. and R.C.A. = 8 charted singles.
4. "Eddie Rabbitt, Jersey boy" 1990 Capitol Records. = 5 charted singles.

There is only one song repeated among the four c.d.'s.
"Runnin with the wind" is on it's original release album
"Jersey boy" and also "10 Best Series, greatest hits".

At this point in time all of these c.d.'s can be bought very inexpensively,
from about $2.50 to $5.00 each.
ALL ARE ORIGINAL RECORDINGS of his hits, and all have excellent sound quality.
Comments of the hits can be found at each C.D. location under majormusiclover.

The eight songs not included on these four c.d.'s, if ever released,
would make yet another good collection.
Three made the top ten, two were top twenty hits,
Listed here are the 8 songs, and the number of the hit it was, of his career:
1. "You get to me", his FIRST songs to chart in 1974.
2. "Forgive and forget", his SECOND song to chart in 1975.
3. "I should have married you", his THIRD song in 1975.
4. "Do you right tonight", although this song NEVER CHARTED,
it was on the radio for nearly four months in the summer of 1976,
and many fans know it well.
Found on "All time greatest hits" album 1991 Warner Brothers.
5. "Gone to far", his SIXTEENTH song in 1980.
Found on "All time greatest hits" album 1991 Warner Brothers.
6. "I don't know where to start", his TWENTY-FIRST in 1982.
A hit song from the album "Step by step".
7. "You put the beat in my heart", his TWENTY-FORTH in 1983.
8. "Hang up the phone", 1991.
His FORTY-THIRD and last song to chart.
From his last album "Ten rounds" on Capitol Records.

Between 1974 to 1991 Rabbitt had 43 songs chart.
The label here says Rhino-Australia, thats true,
but it was a colaberation with Warner Brothers,
so the label seems to get stated different ways in different places.
That may account for it being listed twice.
My copy of this c.d. says both Rhino and Warner brothers .
All original recordings, 14 of these 22 tracks were top 10 hits.
This is a great c.d.!
Comments of the hits on each C.D. can be found at each C.D. location under majormusiclover.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is a MUST HAVE c.d., the first of four, to capture the Rabbitt's hits!, May 8, 2010

This review is from: Platinum Collection (Audio CD)
While searching for all of Eddie Rabbitt's hits,
this is what I discovered is needed.
These four c.d.'s provide 35 of 43 hits.
They're listed here in chronolgical order,
the # given refers to the amount of hits they provide.

1. This "Platinum Collection" on Warner Platinum in 2006 gives you 14 top ten hits.
2. "The 10 Best Series, greatest hits" on Cema special markets label,
1995, has 8 additional top ten hits.
3. "Great hits of EDDIE Rabbitt on B.M.G. - R.C.A. label,
from 1989 contains all 8 of the R.C.A.. charted songs, and two b-sides.
4. "Jersey boy" had 5 songs chart,
also contains the only two b-sides that these 5 songs had.

Eddie Rabbitt 43rd and last song to chart was, "Hang up the phone" 1991,
from his last album "Ten rounds", on capitol label in 1991.

This C.D. is listed twice.
At the other listing is more detailed information,
and a list of the eight charted hits that are NOT obtained within these four c.d.'s.
Comments as to the hits on the other C.D.'s
can be found at each C.D. location under majormusiclover.
At this time all of these C.D.'s are selling for under $5.00 each.

Eddie Rabbitt was a outstanding song writer and composer on the 70's , and his hits like " You do not love any more" " Suspicious" or "I love a Rainy night" prove to be a master pieces from a golden era of music. This compilation is very good and recommendable.

An old high school friend reminded me how much I used to love Eddie Rabbitt. I had totally forgotten about that, but after listening to this cd, I definitely remembered what a great songwriter and performer Eddie was. Great memories!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great collection, but a great song is missing!, December 4, 2006
This review is from: Platinum Collection (Audio CD)
"Step by step" is my favorite Eddie Rabbitt's song. When I was a young boy I used to sing it to my myself every time I was about to date a "too beautiful to touch" girl. Some times I succeeded, thanks to Rabbitt's encouraging lyrics. So I regret Platimun Collection lacking it. But, however, it's a very good choice.

I received this CD very promptly after I purchased online and it was not an overnight delivery. The quality was outstanding and took me back to the 70's when I adored his music.
