Rhino stands for quality! So I thought! I have over 700 Cd's and A ton from Rhino. Having said that, this collection excites me and puzzles me at the same time! What do I mean?! Well, the very first track on this collection is the timeless, infectious monster jam "Thin Line...", that put the Persuaders on the map.Ok then I'll get to my point! You can here the record scratches pretty much throughout the song! This makes me wonder! This song has been on a million compilation sets and it has been cleaned up nicely. Why would Rhino,Warner,Atlantic have a problem with it's remastering? The rest of the disc seems fine! I'm just glad I have "Thin Line..." on about 30 other discs, or I would have been really upset!I guess it drives me crazy because it took over a decade for someone to put out another Persuaders set, and it's first song isn't cleaned up good!It is a pretty good collection though, having 20 tracks, 7 of them on disc for the first time,( track 13,14,15,17,18,19 and 20).

On a different note, I have all the Persuaders LP's, and if I was to put out a collection, it would be a little different. These guys have such killer ballads, that for some reason are just forgotten about!

I purchased with excitement this CD by the Persuaders, because this selection has cuts missing from the so called greatest hits release. Happy to hear those cuts, especially "Some guys Have All The Luck." Simply because there were only the dull remakes available by the late Robert Palmer, and Rod Stewart, etc.

I have though a real sore point, this CD was not digitally formatted, or remastered. It sound as if they put on a record scratches and all, transfered it to a digital tape, and then burned the CD. I know not why the decision was made to take such a wonderful production and screw it up this way. I guess money was the goal, not quality.

I have no problem with the generous song selection or packaging, right down to the reproduction of the classic Atlantic 45 RPM label on the CD itself. The problem - which is shocking for a Rhino compilation of Atlantic material from the 1970's - is the mastering, which is so clearly done from vinyl I can't believe this passed whatever passes for Quality Control nowadays.

From the very first track, the classic "Thin Line Between Love & Hate", you hear the surface noise, and think "Why??"

This track appeared on Atlantic's 8-CD R&B box set back in 1988, where it was properly transferred from a good quality tape; I don't think there's ANY excuse for a label like Rhino, which has had a licensing deal with Atlantic and access to their tape vaults for YEARS, to put out such a shoddy excuse for what is likely to be the only single-disc testament to the Persuaders' musical legacy.

The old caveat of "You get what you pay for" certainly applies here, so don't be fooled by the bargain-bin price: it's there for a reason.

I fully support Rick H. Haag's review except one sentence. He writes that, apart from Thin Line...,the other tracks seem to be fine. Sorry, I don't agree. Put on your headphones and you will hear vinyl on almost all tracks. The only track that has obviously been transferred from mastertape is Some guys have all the luck. Sorry Warner / Rhino...not recommended.

Very disappointed,
I'm sorry for Rhino UK, but all the track are taken from vynil records, and this is no good!

In other hand all of the songs are simply eternal classics, from 70s soul at his top, with all these vocal groups.

If someone else is seeking for Persuaders' material, better search any out of this item.
