5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful album by Fats Domino June 11, 2008
Format:Audio CD
Platinum Fats Domino is a relatively brief CD of ten tracks that is geared toward the casual fan who wants just a sampling of what Fats could do as a recording artist. More serious Fats Domino fans will probably already have these numbers in their collections. The sound quality is really pretty good; and the artwork is very nicely done as well.

The CD starts with one of Fats Domino's greatest hits ever, "Blueberry Hill." Many other artists have performed "Blueberry Hill" but this number truly belongs to Fats Domino. This is wonderful, classic early rock and roll and Fats sings this with great sensitivity. I love it! The electric guitars work great and the keyboard work is fine, too. "Ain't That A Shame?" again showcases Fats' ability to take a ballad and make it shine so brightly; Fats delivers this without a superfluous note and that's grand! I love this tune and "Ain't That A Shame?" is a major highlight of this album. "Walking To New Orleans" has a country flavor to it and there's just a slight rock and roll twist to the melody that makes it very pleasant to the ear.

"Whole Lotta Loving" uses hand-clapping as a creative type of percussion; and Fats Domino sings this beyond perfection! The arrangement for the piano is excellent and Fats never sounded better. "Whole Lotta Loving" is more classic Fats Domino and I really like "Whole Lotta Loving." In addition, "I'm Walkin'" was a huge hit for Fats Domino; this tune has a great beat that makes it good for dancing even today and "I'm Walkin'" has an electric, aggressive beat that is catchy and memorable at once. That horn solo is really fine, too.

"I Want To Walk You Home" features Fats Domino front and center--right where he belongs!
