All The Way Banged Out, March 16, 2000
This review is from: Platinum Game (Audio CD)
CJ Mac is tired of cameo appearances. If you heard his first album, you would question his ability to carry his own album. But it seems that after his first attempt he went straight back to the drawing board and reinvented himself. He shone on tracks with Ant Banks, W.C., and other rappers. So when it was time to let his "Platinum Game" glisten, he was definately ready. Regardless of what you thought about his first album, if you crave banged out west coast rap, you will love this album. Check out "Hate", "King of L.A", "Ends", and "Cha - Cha". This CD is a classic.

More top drawer product from Hoo-Bangin, July 4, 2000
This review is from: Platinum Game (Audio CD)
This album falls into the same category as Big Hutch's brilliant "Executive Decisions" - it's an album by a veteran playa aimed at an audience of primarily hard-working family men in their 30s or 40s who like a little flossing fantasy after a hard day's work. I happen to fall into this demographic field - hell, I can remember the original version of "Don't look any further" (Dennis Edwards) from back in the day - interpolated here on the silky smooth "gangsta bitch"- so there's a few trips down memory lane for me. This is a top quality piece of work from Mack 10's Hoo-Bangin label - soon to be leading the west coast. Every track is a diamond - there are no fake stones here: and a plethora of top producers - young dre, crazy tunes and mad - ensure that the beats are on point. CJ Mac flows with a ruff, gruff charm - albeit sometimes a little muffled and unclear. All in all, a must have album for any west coast connoiseur.

A Hoo' Bangin' Affiliate Strikes HUGE!, May 9, 2000
This review is from: Platinum Game (Audio CD)
From the first 15 seconds of the 1st track, you know that CJ MAC is true to his game and the content in it! He's about as subtle as a Pit Bull and this album is all about bite, no bark! CJ refers to himself as the: all day-all night-airtight-game right, playa'! The production credit of this album lands straight in the lap of Mack 10 and you can hear that West Coast sound pulsing through the CD. My favorites are: Hea, King Of LA, Imagine That, and the top song on the CD, HATE! From his scathing indictment of Dre', to the no-nonsense lyrical content, you can bet your bottom dollar this CD WON'T end up in the $4.99 used CD bin... --E
