Product Description

The Platinum 100054C EZ-RJPRO HD Crimp Tool is designed for the professional installer demanding consistent, reliable and repeatable terminations, every time. This heavy duty tool is the perfect solution when working with high performance, larger wire gauges, thicker, harder insulation and pair separating splines. Overcome these connectivity obstacles and be assured that every termination will meet FCC specifications. It's compatible with all EZ-RJ45 and EZ-RJ12/11 Connectors as well as all standard modular plugs, except AMP. The ratcheted, high leverage and stable platform allows this tool to create consistent, repeatable terminations. The patented "crimp and trim system" delivers a clean, flush trim on the extended conductors for all EZ connectors. The zero flex frame prevents torque loss while the tool die head assembly provides 360 degrees of connector support. Full surface to surface contact delivers uniform crimp force. The 100054C has a built it cutter for flat and round cable, a built in stripper for round and flat cable and it's laser marked with a wiring guide for proper wire sequence. Platinum Tools, founded in 1997, was created based upon two very simple objectives. First, develop, manufacture and source the absolute best possible solutions for preparation, installation and hand termination of wire and cable. Second, implement an operational infrastructure that can deliver these products in an efficient, timely and high quality manner. “This item is not sold directly by Platinum Tools.”

Well made and very easy to use.

I'm an independent computer tech and I need good tools to speed up my job and avoid mistakes. This tool definitely does both. Along with the EZ-RJ45 connectors, this is the only crimp tool I'll ever use unless they make it even better somehow. They've saved me from bad cables and wasted RJ45 connectors more than once and just always seem to work. If you have to terminate cables on a regular basis, invest in this tool!

Just received the tool, and it works as expected.

One minor "nit", which will confuse non-professionals and first timers, is the "keystone jack" image on the included instruction sheet is NOT for the plug, it's for the wall jack. I would eliminate it from the instruction sheet and replace with the "gold finger" image of the plug. After all, we're using the tool to crimp the plugs!

Embarked on wiring up the home (12 locations) during Christmas 2011 weekend. I thought I had all the tools and it started off great - until I encountered a bad cable, well, a badly crimped cable. I must've chopped off a couple of feet off the cable trying to crimp with the regular plug and crimp tools. Thankfully it was the longest cable in my home (100ft) and I had quite a bit to play with.

Long story short, I tried about 10-12 plugs and no matter how carefully I lined up the wires (my plugs came with the little plastic thingy that you route your wires through... so I know the wires were lined up correctly) I just could not get a good crimp. I got one (yes 1) out of 12 to work... I didn't like those odds.

A friend suggested the Platinum Tools 100010C EZ-RJ45 Cat 6+ Connectors, Clamshell, 50-Pieces plugs. After reading the reviews it seemed the EZ Crimp Tool was perhaps the best way to crimp those plugs... I was going to go over-budget and encounter delays on my project if I bought this... but what the heck... I needed to get it done... so I went ahead and ordered...

What a massive relief... I crimped 3 plugs in the hour since I got the tool and I have 100% success! It's a bit pricey to be spending $75 for a crimp tool (specially when you can borrow a regular crimp tool from a friend for free) but I'll take it over 100s of trial and errors. When I don't need it anymore, I'll perhaps sell it on craigslist.

All in all, one happy customer.

For my job, I use the shielded CAT6 connectors and at a buck a pop, this product is a money saver. I can pull the wires through and verify that they are in the correct order and then crimp and it trims the excess in the process. Virtually guarantees a perfect crimp every time. I like the ratcheting feature, helps to ensure a proper crimp every time. The built in wire stipper makes this an all in one. A must have for any technician.

If you have many ends to crimp, there is no easier or better way to do that with this crimper and its RJ45 ends. I cannot see myself ever using anything else. At $29.50 for a 50pack of ends (compared to $12.99 for normal) about the only con I would have is that they are way overcharging for the ends.

One of the problems when using the EZ plugs is that you have to be careful when trimming the excess wires after a connector is made up. The built-in cutter blade simplifies this and lessens the chance of having a short between two adjacent wires when trying to trim them any other way.

I use these at work all the time and finally decided to buy one of my own. It is definitely worth the price. You need to buy the proper EZ RJ 45s to get the full effect.
I did get a faulty crimper the first time ( wouldn't crimp pair 7&8 ) but amazon took it back and sent me a new one right away. I would have given the product 5 stars if I wouldn't have gotten a faulty crimper to start.

(from platinum tools as a reply to an issue I was having, with pins 7 & 8 not being crimped)….hi…..Thanks for the shots, they tell the story……the one shot definitely shows the rolled over contact drivers, bending, out of alignment….to keep it short, we had two production runs, 3,000 per run, that had contact drivers assembled into tool that had not gone through the various hardening processes which are done in batches of 90 per….per the manufacturing forensics analysis, 3 batches made it through to assembly without the hardening treatment……so as these 270 raise their ugly heads, we replace them with good tools…..if those contact drivers are not hardened, they will give out on you, in some cases, after 50 crimps……sorry for the inconvenience….it is too bad you did not purchase it through one of authorized distributors, then you could just walk in and exchange it for a new one…..but we will take care of you……

….there are 4 digits on the tool at the end of the second line where all the patent numbers are…..I would bet that your date code is either 3113 or 3513……

"unfortunately my crimper did not fall into the noted date code [4813]" Platinum tools is going to investigate and get back to me, and I'll update when they do.

Greatest crimpers for the money,
