The best product around to terminate Cat5e cable,
This review is from: Platinum Tools EZ-RJ12 Cat 5/5e Connector 100 Pcs. (Electronics)
Talk about a real honest to goodness time and money saver. I am using these in my home network and A/V system. So easy to use and very difficult to screw up. Out of a box of one hundred, I have used roughly eighty of them so far. Out of that eighty, I only had to redo one connection! With the other non-pass through connectors, I know that I would have mis-wired at least twenty or thirty out of one hundred. That is allot of waste, and no matter how hard I tried I still had this many failures. But not with the EZ connectors!
You will also need to purchase the EZ crimp tool which cuts off the excess cable at the end of the connection. They have two models, I opted for the pro model with the cushioned handles as I am presently terminating allot of Cat5e. I would highly recommend these products, even though they are a tad bit more they are worth it. They will pay for themselves in time saved and costly mistakes.

We used these connectors and crimper when re-wiring our office to current specs (CAT5E and 6). Although they are more expensive than others, they save the money by making sure that the connectors are wired correctly the first time. Not only that, but you also save all that time testing out the cables when they don't work.
You simply push the wires through and you can visually inspect the wires to make sure they are in the right order. Simple, and brilliant! Note, the difference in the CAT5/5E connectors and the CAT6 is that the CAT6 have room for the rounded cable with the plastic "+" wire pair separator in the center. You won't be able to use the CAT5/5E on CAT6 wire, because the wire won't fit in the connector. Likewise, CAT5/5E wire will be loose in the CAT6 connector - so, you'll need both connectors if using both wire types - but the crimper will crimp both, and also RJ11, I believe. |
