I've used this product for about 2 years and I've made a zillion cables. Since I've started using it, my failure/mis-wiring rate is probably 1 in 25 cables. With traditional crimpers, my failure/mis-wiring was more like 1 in 8.

I disagree with the prior post because it implies that using this tool requires one to straighten out the ends of the wire. That's not accurate because you have to straighten the ends for ALL crimpers.

Last point, there is a $10 cheaper version which requires you to cut the wire ends with a dyke. Spend teh extra $10 and buy this item.

The end pieces themselves are more expensive with this item but it is so much faster!

I love this product but we've had issues lately with Cat 6. Maybe 1 in 10 ends doesn't get crimped properly. I initially thought it was a quality issue with the ends but its the crimper itself. I've contacted the manufacturer of the product and they told us they had heard of the issue before so they gave us 2 in exchange.

Great product but be careful with Cat 6.

When used with the right connectors, it works pretty well. It does confirm your wires are in the correct order before making the crimp. The only problem is, it does not cut all of the excess wire off. You will need to trim them with wire cutters or nail clippers. That small task is well worth knowing you have the wires in the correct order before crimping.

This is a great product and if your working with Cat6 you need to get one.

Outstanding product. Sturdy build quality. Could not be more impressed with ease of use of Platinum'sCrimp Tool and "EZ" system. The RJ45 connectors with front-holes for the wires to push through make life and daily work so much easier(home theater installer). The RJ45 connectors are more expensive than the usual 'non-holed' RJ45 connectors but worth every cent and then some. I also bought the Cyclops 2 cable stripper which is a very simple, yet brilliant little tool. A big THANK YOU to Platinum Tools for the time and hassle your tools have saved me!

The crimper works very well. As previous reviewers have said, the two end wires don't get completely cut, but that's easy to do manually. My only gripe is that there is a piece of plastic on both side of the tool (labeled cutter) in the way that prevents you from using the tool to cut through the cable. This is the cutter/trimmer in the center of the tool - can't figure out why it was put there in the way. Otherwise, great tool.

Haven't made any bad cables since I started using this a few months ago. Used it constantly while refitting one of our locations, made probably 120 ends with it, and none of them had bad connections. It often times will leave the outer two wires only partially clipped off, but all it takes is a brush of the hand to knock them off and you're done.

This cuts my timein 1/2. Does what it is suppose to faster than the old way. Never have a wire in the wrong place but once in a while it leaves a wire hanging like the review above stated but I simply just rip it off with my hand it cuts about 2/3 of the way through. They do also sell replacement blades if yours gets dull over time. I have done about 1000 crimps and it has been fine.

The tool works exactly as it should, simultaneously crimping the RJ45 connector and cutting the wires in front of the connector. However, be warned: the "ez" connectors require precise positioning of each wire as you feed them in. You really have to work at straightening the wires so that they will lay flat and insert all at the same time.

It make putting the end on the RJ45 CAT6.... I have never had a easy way to do it!!!!
