the best brief intro to Plato,
By Joel Warren Lidz, Ph.D. (Boston, Mass. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: On Plato (Philosopher (Wadsworth)) (Paperback)
As a philosophy professor who specializes in Plato, I was pleased to finally see a short introduction to Plato which in my opinion is the only one of its kind that acknowledges the inherent difficulties in understanding Plato's writings and does justice to him beginning from that premise.Joel Warren Lidz, Ph.D.

Best Of Its Kind,
By Emile Piscitelli "Dr. P Maverick Philosopher" (Annandale, Va. USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: On Plato (Philosopher (Wadsworth)) (Paperback)
I agree with the earlier reviewer. This is the best short introduction to understanding Plato. I teach Plato and I have found this of immense help in teaching the Dialogues. I have written on Plato's Symposium and Peterman's account of how to interpret Plato is on target. You could spend more and read more well known authors but you won't find a better introduction.
