All of the Bryn Mawr commentaries I've used have been helpful. The text is taken from standard editions, the font is easy to read, and the commentary itself gives enough to explain difficult or unusual constructions, but doesn't keep a student from needing a dictionary every once in a while.

This was one of the required texts for a Greek course I took this year. There is some variation between commentaries regarding which passages have additional notes, etc., but I was almost always fine with just the Bryn Mawr.I was a bit worried when the book arrived because the plastic rings felt cheap and I wasn't sure the book would hold up for an entire semester. It held up quite nicely, though, and the plastic rings allowed the text to fold flat which was really handy for making scans, etc. |
