Biography

The Platters were a vocal group formed in LA in 1953. Their transformation from doo-wop to pop and rock and roll helped bridge the gap between tin pan alley and the modern era of pop music.

The Platters had a brief and fairly low-key career before they were taken under the wing of producer and songwriter Buck Ram. Ram added a female vocalist Zola Taylor and made Tony Williams the group’s lead… Read more in Amazon's The Platters Store

5.0 out of 5 stars Original Stunning Stuff, June 18, 2010
This review is from: The Platters (MP3 Download)
This is the Platters music I was introduced to. It is amazingly lovely, and you get to hear most of the great voices within the group. I was always a fan of Zola Taylor, and wait until you hear her do "I Wanna" and "Someone to Watch Over Me." It's a pity they never digitilized just this album, their first, because it really is a wonderful piece of history. Everything from the arrangements down to the last 'doo waa' you will love this very romantic piece of Rock n' Roll history. If you like the Platters, I suggest you buy all the MP3's!!
