Product Description

The Platypus installs in about 5 minutes. Just take some screws out from the under-side of the bumper, put the Platypus in place and bolt it into the open screw holes. The Platypus rests against the lower bumper on a rubber foot that keeps your car from getting scratched. Once in place, you can use the supplied hardware to attach your license plate to The Platypus. You will have 8 round black clips and four spacers. The spacers go between the back plate and the license plate. The clips snap together. Put one clip in front of the license plate, and one behind the back plate, and push them together. Now you are complying with the law without damaging your 500, plus you have better airflow to your radiator then you would have otherwise.

Please Note: This mount was designed for, and fits the Fiat 500 Turbo and Abarth models 2012-2015.
A Platypus specifically designed for the Fiat Lounge, Sport and Pop models is also available on Amazon.

Used exisitng holes, and I had it on in about 10 minutes. Good quality, no problems, and I didn't have to drill holes in the front of my Abarth.

I had to park with the nose of my Abarth on an incline because I didn't have short-enough tools to get the job done on the flat ground, but getting the platypus installed really is THAT SIMPLE! I would recommend putting the plate on first, then attaching it all to your car so you don't have to reach in between the back of the platypus and your front bumper while hunched over.

Solid installation! Yes, I now scrape a bit on really steep inclines, but it looks looks good.

I bought this for my 500 Abarth, because Maryland's laws suggest that I mount a front-tag as well. Clearly, after having made a $20,000+ purchase, the last thing I want to do is drill holes onto the front bumper, to mount the ugly mounting bracket that comes with the car. So I bought this platypus mount, which mounts to existing holes under the car and is long enough to come back out front without touching the front lip. It seems very well built, and well coated to "hopefully" protect it against rust in the future. One thing to note, however, is that if the bracket is mounted on existing holes, then it WILL be off-center, because the holes exist either to the left or to the right of the center-line. So you can either be comfortable with that and pretend that's the "cool" look (which I've managed to convince myself of) or drill holes on on the undercarriage of the car to mount it as you please. The former (existing holes) option is the easier and faster option.

Texas law enforcement has been cracking down on the front plate rule...don't ask me how I know. Anywho, I was searching for a way to mount a front plate on my 2010 Audi Q7 without having to install the Audi plate adapter (at about $400) and ruin the look of the grill.

Not many places to mount a plate that is strong enough in the front of the Audi and you also have to be careful if you have parking sensors and adaptive cruise control sensors.

The platypus was the only mount I found that was long enough to mount securely and clear the grill and lower fascia. I had to modify some L-brackets to secure the plate to so I could use some existing mounting points, but this install works great. It is like this bracket was made for the Q7.

Awesome addition to my new Abarth. Well worth the price with the ease of installation and the look of the mount itself. It comes with a nice textured powder coating and was easy to install. I love the off center look on my car as opposed to the clunky looking Fiat bumper license plate mount. Like I stated, gives a nice custom way to display your plate without having to drill into your car!

Installed this according to instructions but sadly it was too low.
New Jersey roads are bad I admit but this was scraping my license plate on the road every time I down a lowered kerb for example at the bottom of a drive. I'd heard great things about it but on my abarth cabriolet it didn't work at all. The design didn't seem to be the right shape for my car.

It's a metal bracket..that's what I bought.
I do wish that the rubber bumper guard on it was a bit more than just a nub...but I may engineer my own solution for that.

after buying my Abarth and getting my license plates, i had the awkward experience of walking around the front of my car wondering how in the world i could attach a front plate without drilling holes or covering up valuable radiator air space. a quick google led me to the craven speed platypus...which works perfectly! and took less than 5 minutes to easily install.

i think it's a bit pricey but hey, they took the time to design and manufacture a product that quickly, easily and artfully solves a problem. that's worth rewarding!
