With a bit of practice, the Platypus is fairly easy to use for people with braces. But similar to other reviewers, I found that this product shreds easily. I would need to use 2 each time I floss. Given the cost, I found that I'm much happier using Super Floss instead.

Being 39 and having braces for the SECOND TIME, I forgot how difficult and time consuming it is to floss your teeth. I hoped that I would be with those who love this product. Unfortunately, I'm not. While the design is great and I can fit the front of the flosser between my teeth and wire, the quality of the floss is what is this products biggest fault. It is cheap and shreds. I'm lucky to get one use out of it. If only the floss was a better quality and uses more a glide floss it would be 100% better and very usable. Guess I'll try the Super Floss everyone is recommending.

Unlike the other poster, I love this product and it works VERY well on my bottom teeth. I suppose if your teeth are unusually close together than it may not work for you. I am able to use each flosser 3-5 times before the floss breaks, so a 25 pack will last me over three months. The value in this product can not be stated by cost per unit, for me the value is in the time saved every day. It is tedious and time consuming to floss braces with standard threaded floss, over ten minutes every night, now I can floss in under two minutes!!! I am a busy mom and this product is worth it's weight in gold!!!!

The Platypus Orthodontic Flosser has reduced our flossing time from 20 excruciating minutes to a little over 5. We still have to use the floss threader for the braces on the molars, but the majority of the teeth can be flossed with the Platypus. My son maybe able to floss his own teeth now.

This is a good idea because it's easier for kids to floss. My issue is this flosser is made of the same material as flossers that come with 100+ in a bag for $3. The Platypus breaks just as easily. My child can get maybe two flossings with the Platypus... very costly just to floss. The patent pending is smart on their part because patent pendings can go on forever so they can keep the price high.

I found this product to be flimsy, it definitely didn't have the durability to be used properly. The floss, after using on a couple of passes, stretches out becoming effectively useless. It's basically nothing more than an elaborate toothpick. Then, to top it off, a 30 day supply cost me $15...not worth it.

I would not recommend this product to anyone.

My daughter used these and she was able to use each one 2-3 times easily. They worked great and save time. While they are not the cheapest items, a quick search leads you to where to buy them at a third of the price so do your homework people. I don't know why people don't like these. These make flossing far easier than when I had braces on!!!

These flossers are the easiest way to floss teeth with braces. Prior to braces, my son faithfully flossed his teeth. After the braces, he tried the threaders a few times and felt it wasn't worth it. After a poor check-up, we purchased the Platypus flossers and he's back to flossing daily. Only thing I don't like is the price and the fact that they're not available in stores, that I know of.

My 13 yr old daughter asked for these specifically after having done some research. She reports that they are a great tool for dealing with the need to floss while working around her braces. Her ortho-doc reports a significant improvement in the results of her flossing efforts.

Had read some other reviews about poor durability, but daughter has not reported anything negative like that.

We had been flirting with needing to remove braces because of poor flossing results. Now, that issue is behind us. Apparently these things allow her to get much better results from her flossing efforts.

When a product like this makes a positive change like that, how can you give it anything but 5 stars??? As a 40-something guy, I'm all about having the right tool to make an important task easier, with better results.

My dentist recommended this, not my orthodontist. I love my dentist! Flossing braces (as an adult) without this product was TORTURE and took forever. This works so quickly and easily. And with me, these shred less than other floss and "super floss."
