5.0 out of 5 stars Halo-Totin' Garage Punk, February 8, 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Play 9 Songs With Mr Quintron (Audio CD)
You don't have to even be a Christian to respect this album (I'm not). It's incredible that the Oblivians can fuse gospel and punk into something that rocks like hell and still doesn't sound like a parody of the either genre. It really sounds like they're possessed with something- be it god or the devil. This is the album that should've put a sock in Mxpx's mouth.

5.0 out of 5 stars incredible whiskey soaked blues that rock the soul, July 20, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Play 9 Songs With Mr Quintron (Audio CD)
This is the capper to one of the best bands to see live in the world. This album is alittle cleaner than thier previous releases but it is still full of the love for the mud-soaked delta blues, that influenced the trio and their music, so sit back with a bottle of Maker's Mark and a pack of smokes in a rocking chair on the porch and let The Oblivians rock your soul childrens

5.0 out of 5 stars The Father, Son, & Holy Spirit all say buy this record!!!, October 30, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Play 9 Songs With Mr Quintron (Audio CD)
In my humble opinion, this is one of the very best releases of 1997. The Oblivions storm through the gospel archive, searching for sin and salvation through primitive instrumental thrashing and inspired yowling. Mr. Quintron lays down a manic churchy organ groove on every track. If the Oblivions have truly broken up, I will wear black forever. [FYI- Mr. Quintron is a secretive musician / inventor who lives in a cave in New Orleans' 9th Ward with a foxy puppeteer named Miss Pussycat.]
