5.0 out of 5 stars put your lips together and whistle for this one
Being new to Victoria Alexander's work, I found this book to be heartwarming and funny. I especially liked the characters of Sam the dog, and the secondary character of Pippa/Morgan's cousin, Carolyn/Lindy. This is one to while away a rainy afternoon with!

3.0 out of 5 stars neither good nor bad
I liked the general idea of star crossed lovers being reborn with both of them having feelings of deja vu and with a funny dog set on bringing the two of them together. However, I found the book somehow lacking depth: The love between the hero and the heroine does not really develop, but is there instantaneously. I liked the general idea of star crossed lovers being reborn with both of them having feelings of deja vu and with a funny dog set on bringing the two of them together. However, I found the book somehow lacking depth: The love between the hero and the heroine does not really develop, but is there instantaneously. There are no real character traits recognizable when all the people are reborn: the regency heroine is a docile daughter who wants to do a daring thing just once while the present day heroine seems to try everything wild, the villain looses his conscience when being reborn etc. All in all the book is nice enough to read, but I did not get engrossed in it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best, most original romances I've read, August 25, 1998

This review is from: Play It Again, Sam (It's a Dog's Life) (Mass Market Paperback)
Alexander consistently writes romances that defy the traditional romance storyline and conflict pattern. This novel provides a refreshing, original look at soul mates and is fun to read. She has quickly become my favorite writer. Whenever I see her name on the book I know it will be entertaining, heartwarming, a great read.

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, July 4, 2001
This review is from: Play It Again, Sam (It's a Dog's Life) (Mass Market Paperback)
I found the book to be entertaining and I liked the way the first half of the book dealt with their lives in one incarnation and the second half the book dealt with another incarnation. The dog, Sam, seemed to be a cute character and very likeable. However, I didn't think the heroine and hero were developed as well as Victoria Alexander has done in her other works. My rating is based on reading most of her other books and comparing it with them. This one had some light humor, but not nearly as witty as the others.
