5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE THIS CD!!!
I highly recommend this CD to anyone who is a fan of Play and wants to listen to some great holiday music. Unlike their first three cd's, the solos in each song are equally split among the four girls, so it really showcases their talent. Some of my favorite songs on this cd are "O' Holy Night" and "Let It Snow". Through a combination of soulful ballads and upbeat...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Or Bad?
I have been a Play fan since I stumbled upon their first single. I have eagerly gotten each of their new albums the day they were released, and the only reason why I started to forget about this girl group was when Faye left and I listened to their 3rd album (The first one with new singer Janet instead of Faye) No offense to Janet, I am sure you are a great performer, but...

Through a combination of soulful ballads and upbeat songs, the members of Play create beautiful and inspiring harmonies and this is one of the main reasons why I recommend buying this cd.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Nice Christmas CD To Add To Your Christmas Collection!, March 5, 2005
By

This review is from: Play Around the Christmas Tree (Audio CD)
1. Sleigh Ride (3:24) A-
Very nice and upbeat song. Anna, Anaïs, and Rosie sound their greatest out of the whole album on this one.

2. Winter Wonderland (2:03) B
A nice remake, but the song is really short, and instrumental background sounds rather cheesy.

3. O' Holy Night (3:39) A+
Physically the best song on the album. Janet has all the solos in this song, and obviously pulls it off very well. Janet sounds shines marvelously through the song.

4. Let It Snow! (1:48) B
The shortest song on the album! A great song, but the instruments are rather cheap.

5. Rudolph The Red- Nosed Reindeer (1:54) B-
Vocals are superb on this one, but this is a kid's song and has a kiddy-like tempo.

6. Silver Bells (2:10) B+
This is one of those X-Mas carols you rarely hear these days. I'm glad they chose to do this one.

7. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree (2:07) C
A new and modern vibe added to this oldie Christmas favorite. Becomes very repetitive throughout the song.

8. The Christmas Song (3:13) A
Yet another amazing song on this "Playful" album. Wonderful harmonies during the chorus.

9. All I Want For Christmas Is You (3:55) C-
It starts out pretty nice, but then gets worse toward the end. You can really tell that Anaïs and Anna have colds and are sick and sound really off pitch, which ruins the song. Janet's voice has matured since their last album, and Janet sounds absolutely striking on this one.

10. Silent Night (3:04) A-
A slow-paced and perfect end to the Christmas album. Play knows how to harmonize well and blend together, especially on this one.

Overall, this album is really good, but you can tell that Play was on a strict budget for this album. When I get a CD, I love looking at new pictures and reading the thank-you's. They could have at least done a Christmas-style photo shoot, but come to think of it, it's the music that we should be caring about. I really enjoy listening to Play's music and I think they have potential to make it big really soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars Merry Christmas!, January 6, 2005
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Play Around the Christmas Tree (Audio CD)
Play has done a Christmas album, after 4 years!

1. Sleigh Ride-3/5: I always skip this song. Annoying after first few times.

2. Winter Wonderland-4/5: Rosie sounds good on this one!

3. O Holy Night-5/5: Janet is amazing!

4. Let It Snow-5/5: Rosie starts this song wonderfully! They all blend together really well.

5. Rudolph The Red Nose Reindeer-4/5: Not my favorite, although they did do a wondeful job on it.

6. Silver Bells-5/5: I think this should be a single. Wonderful singing, like Janet ending the song.

7. Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree-5/5: No teen Christmas album can be complete without this!

8. Christmas Song-4/5: If they had to redo a song, they should redo this one. Anna's talented, but her first solo is a bit off.

9. All I Want For Christmas Is You-5/5: Wondeful song! Deffenatly my favorite on the album!

10. Silent Night-5/5: Wonderful singing by Janet Leon!

Great CD, but when you listen to it, you can tell it was a bit rushed. Their voices don't blend well with the music, and when on the wrong bass setting on your sterio, you can't hear their voices.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good for Younger Girls, November 19, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Play Around the Christmas Tree (Audio CD)
I think Play is an awesome group but I feel they took a step backwards after making Replay. I mean Replay was obviously directed towards older teens then their next cd's go back to sounding like they're for younger girls. It seems like this cd as well as don't stop the music would've gone before replay and Replay would've been their last cd cuz that would've made a lot more since rather than having a cd with songs called Let's get to the Love Part and Hot then having your next cd have songs like it's a hard knock life. But this cd is okay I just think the cover could've been more Christmas like and honestly Janet's vocals get annoying her notes sound so forced and struggled I think Faye gave the group a better harmony. But anyways this cd is more for younger girls I think the older they got the more backwards they went.

5.0 out of 5 stars wow., July 14, 2005
This review is from: Play Around the Christmas Tree (Audio CD)
This album is amazing but i have something to say-play was much better with Faye. Much much better.

This has lots of classsics and it has more of a pop twist on them. Over-all, this is something to buy.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST XMAS CD, December 7, 2004
By
Phyllis Lamichen "Phyllis" (Canada, Alberta, Edmonton) - See all my reviews

I have heard many Christmas songs from a lot of pop stars or groups. But there is only a few I really enjoy hearing and has lots of feeling put into the songs. PLAY HAS IT ALL!!! This CD will get u hooked on to PLAY once you hear the whole thing!! It gets better and better by every song you hear!!!This album has all their unique voices all in the right places of the song. Also, since they have grown up,their voices sound so much more loudly and mature. That is a good thing because they no longer is the bubblegum pop girl teens they first started.
Since they have sung for so long, they can sing perfectly high and low notes.(such as Silent Night and O'Holy Night)Rosie and Anna has out done themselves! They got a lot more solos and to show their voices more in this album. I personally, never knew Anna can sing that good, mostly beacuse i haven't really looked into her solos. Janet was sssssoooo much better in this album than her last. Her voice is so strong and can get a simple message through her voice. Last but never least,Anaïs,she is unbelivable!! I personally think that "The Christmas Song" is my favorite. Anaïs out did herself near the ending. She sung a soft and sweet solo and it helps finishes the song. The most AMAZING thing is, PLAY finished this CD within 1 month!!!!This is the second CD PLAY has done with the new member Janet. Janet is just wonderful!! PLAY IS WONDERFUL!!
I think everyone should have a little treat at CHristmas time....
GET PLAY'S CHISTMAS ALBUM!!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars PLAY, December 4, 2004
This review is from: Play Around the Christmas Tree (Audio CD)
I was waiting for this album forever, and when i sampled the CD, i thought it was decent. In some songs, their voices sound "average" but most of the songs are incredible, and Play is starting to sound more mature. The CD quality (not voices) is ok; their new label, Sanctuary Records, doesn't seem to be the best label, because compaired to their last album, Don't Stop The Music, their christmas album seems like they rushed into it. I'm personally a person who loves CDs with everything: official pictures, thankyous, stuff like that. Besides from the cd quality & look, their voices really blow your mind. It's great and Play fans will not be disapointed.
