I like this one better,

Maybe the reason I like this one better is that I don't want a whole CD to be "Smooth and Relaxing". This one is not as "smooth" and to me that is a good thing. While the first one had some catchy songs it was also more low key and the songs had a similar groove. This one pushes the envelope a bit more and gives us songs that don't all sound similar. Slam Dunk is good, but the standard stuff..then he really opens it up with "From The Top" and "Rewind" is equally energized. Belle Maria with Peter White again steps away from the standard fare and the beautiful ballad at the end, With You I Believe, is a refreshing step away from studio technology. Pure instrumentation and played from the heart. I could have done without the cover of "Lets Get It On" a song I have simply heard too many times over the last 30 years and am bored with. But the other plus for this CD is that except for one background vocal it is all instrumental! I love the artists who can play it down the center commercially and give radio what they want without compromising the quality of the music or putting us to sleep..EG has done that with this one.I also have to give some props to the cover art..the woman on the cover is a beautiful, confident, healthy looking woman wearing clothes that real people wear. Refreshing after seeing so many covers with sultry, pouting, extremely thin half-dressed women!

This CD was my introduction to EUGE GROOVE. Considering I thought the name of the performer was HUGE GROOVE, I was not dissapointed to find out differently. Euge Groove was a HUGE hit with me. Slam Dunk is the head boppinist, sitting in your car even after you get home to finish listening it-ist tune that I've heard in a while. GROOVE ONNNNNN.

Euge Groove returns with his sophomore album of great smooth jazz in Play Date. All the tracks reels me in each time I put the CD into the spin. Although fans of Groove's debut album might not totally agree that this 2nd album is as 'smooth' as the first, it actually takes a few spins of the CD to get one into the groove. Slam Dunk in particular, throws the listener into the highs of Groove's funky smooth jazz before Goona Be Alright brings the listener down into the deep realms of sultry smooth jazz ecstasy. By the time one gets to the end of the CD, you will have realised that Groove has really done a good job again. The worth of a contemporary jazz musician is to push the boundaries of his art beyond the limits of pre-defined notions and expectations, just like the art of jazz improvisation. Smooth Jazz is no exception. The grooves have to be constantly expanded, the funk has got to set in differently with each turn, and the flow could turn swirl smoothly. Euge Groove has in such a way, grown beyond the confines of smooth jazz in his 2nd album. And listening to the way his saxophone moves in unison with his groove is testament to the greatness in his art.

Hello, This is one of my favorite Groove Cds. He is a master at song writing.FYI his live performances are highly polished. When he paired with Jessie J and Jeff Globe it worth quiting your job to catch the show.

I have all four of Euge Groove's (Steve Grove's) CDs, and this one has impressed me massively. I have a 1-star to 5-star rating system, based on what I hear, how it makes me feel, and how it compares to other jazz in my collection. The ten cuts on this CD scored an astounding seven 5-star and three 4-star ratings. No other jazz CD in my collection has even come close to this. Long live the Groove.

Well, where should I start? I absolutely loved this cd. To tell you the truth, I can't get enough of it. I loved Track 3, Gonna Be Alright & Slam Dunk. I heard the first CD of EG and loved it to, but I think that he took it to another level with this one. Like I said, Groove On!

I love this cd. It's one of my favorites. "With You I'd Believe" is my favorite song on the cd. It is fabulous. It just may be my favorite song from ALL the cd's I own. It's a wonderfully uplifting song. The only song I didn't like was "Love Me". I don't like when the smooth jazz artists throw in a vocal or two- for me it usually takes away from the cd. However, the other songs were so outstanding, I still give it 5 stars. I just skip over that one.

The first CD by Euge Groove was AWESOME! This CD is nothing compared to the first CD. I was so anxious to buy it that I hurried out and bought it from a record store for about [$], which I never pay that price for a CD. I should have waited to order it from the used music section of amazon.com, at least I would have saved some money. I expected something equal or better.
