1.0 out of 5 stars SHOCKED BY THIS PRICE!!
This is a great and fun product...which Toys R Us sells for $12.99. I am appalled that Amazon charges so much for this toy.

It's crazy to see what the minds of twin 3 1/2 year old boys and an 18 month old girl can create! The molds are sturdy and the scissors are so safe that they probably couldn't cut a piece of hair in half.

I have such great memories of playing with this stuff when I was small. It's nice to see some toys can stand the test of time!

We bought this toy for our 7 children last Christmas and they are STILL playing with it! If they are bouncing off of the walls, I can always bring out the play-doh bucket and they are quiet for at least 45 minutes, which is priceless. The bucket is durable and it's very easy to just toss everything in and screw on the lid when they're done.

5.0 out of 5 stars great starter set, October 22, 2005

I bought this for my son for Christmas, but decided to give it to him early. He needed something to occupy him on a cold, rainy day and I must admit that I love Play-doh myself. This is a nice started set to introduce your child to Play-doh or a good gift for a child who is already a Play-doh fan. There are enough pieces for at least 2 kids to play with without arguing.
This set comes with 4 full sized cans of doh (purple, blue, yellow, and mint green) and 2 smaller cans (hot pink and white). I would recommend getting more colors personally. It also comes with 6 cookie cutters (circle, square, rectangle, triangle, heart, and star, the fun factory extruder with two of the shape maker thingies that you attach to the end, a smaller type syringe extruder with 2 shape maker things for it, a knife, scissors, and two shape things with holes that you push the doh out of to make 'hair'(one is a centipede, one looks kind of like a mole or possum, not sure), there is nothing to push it out with, just use your fingers. It is all packaged in a clear plastic barrel with a SCREW ON lid, not a snap on lid like the yellow buckets. The screw on lid is a great idea as it keeps the doh soft even if you don't put it in the individual jars. Of course, all play-doh will dry out eventually no matter what you do, so plan on buying more fairly often. It's cheap, so it's not a big deal. Nothing lasts forever.
All in all, this is a cool set. We actually prefer the food-themed sets like the Make-a-meal bucket. The stuff tastes pretty nasty so it wasn't hard to teach my son not to actually eat it.

My son just received this a few weeks ago and absolutely loves it.
He's about 2 1/2 and can play with it for quite a while - he loves to make little balls and spaghetti which he can then cut with scissors or make shapes with the provided molds. There is a wide variety of shapes and molds - so they have hours of fun!

Just make sure to have them play on a clean surface - not over a carpet, since it can be a pain to clean ...

Enjoy!

I got this for my son's 3rd birthday. He wasn't too into playdoh before now, and when we did play, I had to make everything. He'd ask me to make complicated things (bulldozer, vacuum) and get really frustrated when I tried to get him to make things. Since we got this bucket he loves it and plays on his own for at least 30 minutes! He needs help now and then but he really enjoys all the parts. We've only had it a few days but we've played with it at least a few times each day since we got it.

5.0 out of 5 stars The BEST Play Doh SET available for the money..., December 31, 2005

This is the BEST Play Doh set currently available in terms of the amount of play doh and the number of different cutting, molding and extruding tools that you get for your money. The tools are the larger molding tools that are easy for small hands to use. In addition, all of the items come in a barrel (with a screw-on lid), not a bucket (with a snap-on lid). The barrel is sturdier and keeps the play doh fresher than the bucket. In addition, the barrel has more accessories than all of the various Play Doh bucket sets that are currently on the market. The Play-Doh Fun Fridge is the other Play Doh set that is really good (if you can find it ... I've only seen it at dealsafari) in terms of amount of play doh and number of molds (over 20 pieces, includes 8 cans of play doh and 4 meal makin' molds for eight dollars). The Fun Fridge that I am referring to is different (and has way more) than the Fun with Food Food Fixin' Fridge that I've seen at various stores. If you are looking to buy your first play doh set OR you want to buy one that has everything you need, this is the play doh set for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars Truly A Barrel of PlayDoh Fun, September 19, 2005

We bought this item for my 3 year old, who has just discovered PlayDoh, as a birthday gift. It is far superior to anything we were able to purchase locally at our major retailers ~ the shapes and colors are great, and not all food related, which was a plus for us, since we are discouraging the eating of PlayDoh, for obvious reasons.

I would highly recommend for anyone who is looking for a great starter set for their little ones to learn to love Play Doh.

5.0 out of 5 stars Who's having more fun?, September 3, 2004
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

I just bought this bucket of fun today and it has already entertained an 11yr old, a 7yr old, a 5yr old and my daughter who is 2. She's having a blast. There is so much you can do. And while I'm writing this review I'm not sure who's having more fun my husband or my daughter.

Play doh has been around forever, I remember playing with it as a child and the smell just brings me right back to those times. It is great for the imagination. I look forward to see what Ella will create.

This toy is a definite must buy. And there aren't any batteries!!!

Perfect for play doh "purists" - it has everythign a starter set should have - rolling pin, cookie cutters, "scissors" safe enough for my 2 year old, and an extruder to make snakes and spaghetti.

I love it because it lets your imagination run wild. My 2 year old just loves it because it's play doh.
