4.0 out of 5 stars Fun,Fun,Fun
My 4 year old daughter absolutely loves this toy. She can do this all by herself ("growing" and "styling" her hair). The only drawback is that sometimes the Playdoh can be hard to get out of the pony when it's time for clean up.

3.0 out of 5 stars Not what I thought it would be
I got this for my daughter for Christmas thinking how great it would be- the combination of play doh and ponies! However, it's near impossible to make the hair grow as long as it shows on the box and there's a lot of play doh that just gets stuck. The little plastic display stand doesn't really clip to the vanity mirror part either. My 3 yr. old tries to "cut" the hair,...

The little plastic display stand doesn't really clip to the vanity mirror part either. My 3 yr. old tries to "cut" the hair, but it's not long enough for her to cut so she gets aggravated. At least she got 3 cans of play doh with it.

My 3 year old loves playdough and MLP so we bought her this. She uses all her other playdough sets but not this one. She is bored by the fact that all she can is make hair and accessories, the stage is hard to attach to the mirror and keeps falling off. I would get one of the food playdough sets (more pieces = more fun)

1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely worthless, January 13, 2008

I bought this for my 5-year-old granddaughter because she loves both Play-Doh and My Little Pony toys. We always do Play-Doh together, so it seemed like a no-brainer buy. But together we've agreed that this is a really bad toy. And it's even more dreadful when you consider the price.

First, to get the Play-Doh through the holes that make the hair, you fill the pony's legs with Play-Doh, then push the pony down on its stand. Seems easy enough, but when we tried, she couldn't get the pony to move, and I could barely do so. And then, only a little bit of hair came out, despite having filled the legs almost entirely.

On top of that, as one reviewer said, it's a time-consuming pain to get the leftover Play-Doh off the stand, out of the pony's legs, and out of the holes in the pony. And as another reviewer said, the stage doesn't fit snugly into the mirror base. About the only thing that's fun is making the pony twirl on the stage.

What I strongly recommend instead is the Fuzzy Pumper Crazy Cuts Playset. It works much better, is easier to clean, and has three interchangeable hair styles for variety.

The bottom line: we're throwing this toy away.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for girl who loves playdoh and ponies!, November 25, 2005

My daughter is a hands on girl, (she is 6) and she loves my little ponies and play-doh. Her favorite thing to do is to cut the hair. So, she'll grow the hair then cut the hair over and over and give her different hair styles. She also loves how the play-doh actually sparkles! how cool! The pony actually looks very pretty when the hair is grown. She also mixed white and pink for a new look. great product!

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't buy this, if you want to save your sanity., August 19, 2008

While my daughters enjoy making and decorating hair for the pony, I can assure you that getting the leftover playdoh out of the pony's head is absolute torture. It look me 2 pencils, a butter knife, the scoopy thing that comes with the set and a LOT of patience to clean it out - otherwise, it hardens up there and the next time the child uses it, razor-sharp dried pieces will fall out. This set is not worth the effort.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun but hard to make the hair grow - only for real MLP fans!, March 10, 2011
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars = Fun:2.0 out of 5 stars = Educational:1.0 out of 5 stars

My daughter got this as a gift a while back. She really likes it, but the part where you actually make the hair grow (you put play doh in the pony and then push a plunger up into the pony) is really hard. It takes a lot of effort for an adult to push it down all the way. It's almost impossible for a small child. She does love picking out colors and styling the pony's mane. If you are getting this for a kid who REALLY loves pink and My Little Ponies (mine does) they will like it, but still get frustrated with it occasionally (I don't mind helping the hair grow). Otherwise, get another play doh set.

My 4 year old just loves this toy. She love My Little Ponies and Playdoh. She loves to make their hair grow and then pretend she is a beatician. I love this. Make more playdoh items like this one

From Teachers Resisting Unhealthy Children's Entertainment: This media-linked set "presents play dough as only for girls, and turns an open-ended play material into a single-purpose product (to be used solely for extruding the pony's mane)."

Toys like this "dictate that certain toys and interests are only for boys or only for girls, emphasize highly sexualized appearance/behavior that is confusing to children, and make bodies the focus of play and equate self-worth with appearance (often extreme thinness)."
