I purchsed this book during my quest for building up my skills and after reading some of the reviews. I have played bridge for over 30 years and recently felt I was getting stagnant in my play of the hand. I have several bridge books for reference, but when I read them to try to build up my skills, I was usually dissatisfied. Often the author did not fully explain why certain rules were successful. Audry Grant's system is easy to learn, goes into detail as to why a rule is suggested and gives worthwhile quizes at the end of each chapter. Even though some of the information is a review for me, I did not find that it was too basic - I enjoy refreshing my concepts and always learn something new. I will admit that some of her point count guidelines are a point or two off from the way I usually play, so I am getting used to her system in that respect. The last time I played bridge I used some of my "new Knowedge" and it worked well!

We bought this book for a newly formed bridge club - we have two veteran players, two beginners, and two novice-intermediate players. This book has been great to get the beginners up to speed quickly and to be able to engage in basic play with all members of our little club. We bought her companion "cheat sheet" as well (bridge at a glance), which helps in the heat of play if we've forgotten something. It has given us the basics for all of our players to improve their play and learn more advanced skills.

I own a copy of an earlier edition, which I consider to be the best ever published for intermediate players up to that time. It covers not only the play of the hand by the declarer, but important aspects of bidding and of play by defenders. The presentation is the clearest ever, aided profusely by excellent examples.

This book has changed the way I play bridge. I am now making extra tricks. She presents the basics clearly. Advanced players may not find this as useful as I am.

I needed a review of the bidding count, and how to play. I discovered that I remembered how to play, but I did need a review of the bidding. A very good source.
Simple and concise.

This is a very well written bridge book by Audrey Grant. It covers not only play of the hand but also bidding and in addition to the lesson, has many exercises to reinforce the lesson. One of the best I have read.

This series of books by the ACBL is very good at teaching and refreshing old out of date players on the new 21st Century planning and playing bridge hands. This volume shows both the play and the use of things like the weak two bid

The book has great content, but it's difficult to find what you're looking for when a question arises. It needs an Index.

I've read a number of bridge books, and this is the best one I've found. I also have the first book in the series, which is also excellent. I'm not an advanced player, but this gives me everything I need. It had been recommended by my bridge teacher, and I'm very happy with it.

I bought this book for my first bridge class. It is a wonderful resource for anyone that is just starting to play the game. Audrey Grant does an excellent job of explaining the concepts followed by exercises to reinforce the knowledge. I highly recommend it!
