5.0 out of 5 stars Another Nagel Heyer Gem
What a fantastic recording! Nagel Heyer Records has done it again with the New York Allstars led by one of the greatest trumpeters in the world- Randy Sandke. I love this record company because their live recordings are so fresh and vibrant. Their production of modern treatments of swing and trad are unmatched by any other company out there, and I own about 2 dozen of...

1.0 out of 5 stars Hampton!
Browse this website for Lionel Hampton, find the detail page of a CD that interests you and even sports his picture, order it, when you get it, find out that LH had no part in this recording, which is just by some other group playing his pieces. What a fantastic recording! Nagel Heyer Records has done it again with the New York Allstars led by one of the greatest trumpeters in the world- Randy Sandke. I love this record company because their live recordings are so fresh and vibrant. Their production of modern treatments of swing and trad are unmatched by any other company out there, and I own about 2 dozen of their CD's--this is one of the best. Lars Erstrand does a great job of the Lionel Hampton role, but this is no attempt at recreation of his sound. These are world class musicians swinging tight and fresh, with great innovations on the classic theme. Listen to "Ring Dem Bells" and the bluesy jump of the title cut, and tell me you don't want to swing. Keep these records coming!!
