5.0 out of 5 stars CAGLE ROCKS!, November 3, 2000
This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)
To be honest, I picked up a copy of this CD without having previously heard a song on it. I had heard good things about Chris Cagle, however, so I decided to try it out. It was one of the best buys I every made! I know it may sound cheesy, but this CD affected me greatly. It's such a great combination of emotions and good-time rockin'-country toons. From the sad "The Safe Side," to the emotionally charged "Laredo" and "Who Needs The Whiskey," to the rocking "Country By The Grace of God" snd "Rock The Boat," this is one CD you won't regret buying. The only bad thing there is to say about it is that it's not free. But it is worth every penny you spend. One thing's for sure: Chris Cagle is country through-and=through. He'll be here when Tim McGraw hangs up his hat, and Alan Jackson smashes his guitar at a rock concert. Like his love, Chris Cagle will go on and on and on and on . . .

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!, June 1, 2001
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)

Chris Cagle had been knocking around Nashville as a songwriter for awhile before making the leap to performer. I am glad he leapt! His writing abilities are second to none and his delivery is phenomenal, wrap that up in a HOT package and you have Chris Cagle (I wouldn't mind "playing loud" with him if you know what I mean!).

After hearing "My Love Goes on and on" on the radio, I picked up this CD and was struck by its versatility. When I sing along with "My Love Goes on and on", I always find myself adding a couple of extra "and on"s, it is such a catchy tune I end up singing it every time. Then there is the country-boy anthem "Country by the Grace of God", the upbeat title track and the straight-up rockin' (and, therefore, appropriately titled) "Rock the Boat". There is really not a ballad per se, but "Laredo" (my personal fave track) is dripping with raw emotion and definite #1 material. Other stand-out songs include "Who Needs the Whiskey" and "Love Between a Woman and a Man".

I highly recommend this CD and, if you get a chance, seeing Chris perform live, he does not disappoint!

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth it!, February 12, 2001

This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)
I saw the video Chris made for "My Love Goes On and On" before I ever heard it on the radio. I thought that the song was so much fun that I had to try other songs, but before I could, I saw the cd in a store and couldn't resist buying it! As soon as I heard songs like "Laredo" and "Rock the Boat" I could not help but love the rest of the cd too! This cd is one of the best I have heard in a long time by ANYONE (country or otherwise)! It is well worth buying! Good Job Chris! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Great way to start a career, November 28, 2000

I picked up the album just get get the song "MY LOVE GOES ON", but was amazed at how great the rest of the songs were. A lot of times I have to listen to a cd several times before I begin to like certain songs, but I loved this albume the first time I played it. The first five songs are definitley great, but the rest of the album is pretty good also. I love the uptempo stuff on this. Chris Cagle should be around for a long time. I can't wait to see him in concert sometime.

I heard "My Love Goes On and On" the radio and purchased this CD right away. I immediatly found out the rest of this CD is just as amazing as that signature song! Chris Cagle is new to the country field, but this is as good a CD out there as you could ever buy!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD!, April 30, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)
I bought this cd a few days before seeing him live at Billy Bob's Texas and loved it from the first play. He's even better in person. I'm most impressed that he writes his own music. He has the energy and emotion of a Tim McGraw of early days.

Definitely buy this cd, but don't miss a chance to see him live!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD and Great Concert, April 22, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)
I had the pleasure of seeing this young man in concert at Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth and the show was outstanding. Most people don't know, but he's been in Nashville for a few years and finally made his break into the music mainstream. He used to play the small clubs in Ft. Worth and seemed sincerely excited about playing in front of the hometown crowd of 2 or 3 thousand at Billy Bob's. My best recommendation is, if you ever get the chance to see him live, don't miss it. As for the CD, all the songs are good and some are great. Chris brings a new edge to his music with his energy, lyrics, and the quality of his voice. In closing I must say - BUY THIS CD NOW!!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great country music like we haven't heard for a while!, May 21, 2006
This review is from: Play It Loud (Audio CD)
The first time I saw Chris Cagle was in concert at a festival, and I didn't even know who he was. Have you ever heard a song that you cannot forget, and you are so glad when it finally comes out? That's what happened with "Country by the Grace of God". It's got an awesome funky rhythm, such great lyrics -- and they're so true! I never forgot that performance until his CD finally came out many months later.

Like everyone's said here, don't miss the chance to see him live. His expressive singing is far better than the bubblegum technical "perfection" that's all so annoying and boring these days, and he has a live energy that just crackles! He's one of those people that, when onstage, his command of the live atmosphere makes him seem 10 feet tall. He also has an awesome band! One thing about the CD, the perfectly boring "session musicians" don't hold a candle to Chris' real band, especially in "My Love Goes On and On" or any rocking number. But that's typical Nashville for you. Anyway, it's not a complaint, just a mild difference.

His ballads are just as powerful, but my favorite, "What a Beautiful Day", is on a later CD. This is a great CD, and almost does justice to what Chris actually does as a performer. He's the real deal, not the Nashville flavor-of-the-month.
